The episode, besides being a filler, is a homage to the Martin Scorsese film "After Hours" which has a similar structure. The Blue Moon refers to Manchester City who use the song "Blue Moon" as their theme song. Beard's love of Jane Payne is summed up in his prayer in the church: "When I'm with her, life just seems more interesting." Also, Beard's alias of Declan McManus is actually the real name of Elvis Costello.

I was just about to mention that this was an "After Hours" episode. I remember that it wasn't too popular when it came out. I Liked it though.... It seems to have following now. A lot of movies and shows have paid homage to that movie... Atlanta had a good one.... I guess our heroes have never had a day like that. Where things do not go wrong, but monumentally wrong, and it even seems like space and time have conspired to influence timeline to unravel like a nested joke. Reality winks back and openly mocks you as you traipse through a Rube Goldbergian comedy of nightmares.... I guess....maybe the universe just saves that shite for the true weirdos...like me...

I love this episode. Even though it’s a filler, and it doesn’t really serve the main storyline, it shows that somebody as cool and relax and chill as Coach Beard can be suffering from crippling, depression, and anxiety from their own insecurities in their head, and you never really know what your friends are going through.

"Bird by bird" is a direct reference to a book by that name that is about the writing process, but the title itself a reference to an anecdote of the author's of how her brother was writing a report on birds that he had to cram to finish - their father's advice was to just take it bird by bird. Broadly the message is that big problems are manageable by tackling them in smaller pieces.

We don’t have the same blanket “open container” type laws but more recently local authorities can introduce Public Spaces Protection Orders that make specified actions illegal by designating them as anti-social behaviour. And some of those have included drinking in public. Transport for London banned drinking on the network a while back too. Thats England and Wales - I’m not sure about Scotland.

@@a6ruled The oddest thing about the US is their public intoxication laws too though, where even being *drunk* in public can be a crime.

Finally! My absolute favorite episode of the show. It's so weird, and so amazing. Also reminds me of many a drug and alcohol fueled night, in the weirdness you experience :D Something that's easily missed is that all these commentators are old legends, and actual commentators, the biggest there is.
@pardox283 сағат бұрын
What I heard was that after the filmed all of season 2, Apple asked for 2 more episodes. So they wrote this episode & the Christmas episode to be fillers & filmed them quickly.
@lethalsnake666Сағат бұрын
I’ve always had a beer in public walking to the station, pub or one after work. However, local councils can put measures in place to stop drinking in certain areas where they believe alcohol could contribute to anti-social behaviour, police may enforce this but the lost that would happen is your told to spill the rest of your drink and be on your way.

I have a criticism for you both. I love your videos and have seen scores of them the last few years. The part I've enjoyed least is the post reaction back-and-forth. I think you guys need to tighten that up while still allowing for flexibility to say what you want in the moment. Most of the time you rely on moment to moment, and it can get awkward, imo. You've done better with the Game of Thrones post reactions because you were keeping notes to discuss afterward. So more structure, more open ended questions that create dialogue. Less statements that really don't go anywhere. Again, love yall. Keep it up.
