Loved this, what a fab idea to mix the two - but THAT HILL START!!!! I love what you said about grabbing life at the end - so very true, I love love love your videos, as a fledgling ultra jogger I have found so much inspiration from your positive outlook AND you have made me enjoy park run, I have realised its OK to stop and look about sometimes rather than just belting round X

Emma this is just the best comment, thank you! This is exactly why I make videos of our adventures 🥰 it's so easy to get caught up in thinking we should be doing one thing when really... We live once and our choices are our own! We don't have to stay in the box, we can make the most of every experience if we want to, it's a choice! 😃 I often think the people belting round are missing out! But of course sometimes belting it round is fun. It's whatever you'll enjoy more on that day! This race concept is BRILLIANT isn't it?! 🏃♀️vs🚴♀️ 😃😃😃 thanks again for your lovely positive words 🤗

I know right?! I said that I'd wished I was faster as it must have been awesome to see the people at the front of the race come in and then to see us all streaming down the hill in a wiggle! It was actually beautiful but I only got to see a bit of it because I was running so you've got the right idea! Get someone else to do it, you can walk halfway up the hill or something to watch the race start and everyone storming towards you up the hill and then you can watch everyone come in! It's such an exciting race! 😃

Isn't it an incredible concept! Takes some really clever course design to make it competitive and unfortunately some ridiculous hills as they're what favour the runners over the riders... Terrain so steep you can't ride it! 🤦♀️🤣 Grandad Norman is an inspiration 😍💪🏃♂️

Genius race concept, I'm glad I don't have to decide on the course but it looks like the people who did know their stuff. I also loved the race brief being given while standing on top of a quad bike parked broadside on to an insane slope 😂

Thanks Tom 😃 That start hill wasn't fun! 🤦♀️😂 But it was so exciting to see the different ways people got their bikes to the top of the hill because that hill is a beast! Can't have been easy to get up it with a bike! 😱 And yeah, Al's dad is crazy fit! It's funny because it's just normal to him but to us mere mortals it's remarkable! We can but hope to be like Norman when we're in our 80s! 🤞 It's unlikely... but we can still hope! 🙃

Well done Nicola. Enjoyed that. Lie you, this was my first time at this race and I did it on a bit of a whim having raced (cyclo-cross) the day before and having thought 'what's the worst that can happen?' I've done the 'Harriers v Cyclists' event in Shipley (look it up) a handful of times but not for a few years. Love these events because like a lot of cyclo-cross riders I'm also a fell runner. Perfect mix of communities and above all else, just a lot of fun ad good honest effort. Thought it was brill.
@NicolaRuns2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😃 Were you a runner or a rider? And which is more fun if you have the skill to do both? My bike handling skills are massively lacking so running was my only option! 🤣 It's brave doing this if you raced the day before! Massive respect! 💪

@@NicolaRuns I was riding. (Well, where I could do!). Finished 7th in the end. Thanks Nicola . Another brilliant video. Wow. What a fantastic event, great fun and a truly unique format. I'm not overly keen on hills so this should really be my idea of hell, but it would be a brilliant race to be part of. Looked like it had a fantastic social side too which is a lovely part of any race day. Stormin' Norman - what a superstar. There's some incredible & inspirational runners who are very much in the veteran category. Do you know Hils Wharam from Horsforth Harriers? She's my no.1 running hero. Now in her 80's and still a marathon regular at Its Grim Up North events. She's a truly remarkable lady. Ps. The lady laughing at the steep hill (1:36) ....... was this because she wasn't running it herself? 😆😂

Do you think you need fell shoes or will trail shoes do? What's Norman's secret? Looks about 60!
@NicolaRuns2 жыл бұрын
Norman believes strongly in a raw diet. He doesn't eat cooked or processed foods and doesn't take any medication. He's crazy fit and healthy for his age! Trail shoes might have been okay but it has been relatively dry, if that steep descent was wet/muddy then you'd 100% need fell shoes but this year trail shoes would have been okay. The moor is boggy, wet and muddy but it was grippy enough... that could easily change with a period of wet weather. Fell shoes best but if it's running in trail shoes or not running then I'd run in trail shoes 😃
