An integral part of my growing up. I first Heard SAHB in 1974 ...(I was 10) on the Alan Freeman Show...and of course it was Faith Healer..still love that song....R.I.P Ted. ...wherever you are....Peace.

Some 15 years ago Jack Bruce was playing Scribblers Picnic in Stirling. My sons band were due to follow him on stage. Jack's drummer was running late so my sons band went on first. When Jack's drummer arrived he sat down at the drums got his tuning key out and retuned the drums. I thought this guy knows what he's doing. It was Ted McKenna. I didn't know his background but he played a fantastic set with Jack and Jack's son Malcolm. Ted will be sadly missed. Another great Scottish musician gone.

When I self taught myself Rock drums, in the mid 70s, I simply used a copy of SAHB stories (and Sweet's Greatest Hits), and played it over and over again for months until I approximated what Ted was playing. Forty plus years on, I'm still stealing his chops and use them all the time. In fact since I learned of his death, I listened to his back catalogue and have nicked another half dozen fills that he came up with. Met him once, and at the end of the chat he gave me his email address to keep in touch. What a guy! Great Drummer, great imagination, great technique. Just loved his playing. RIP Big Fella.

I only found this sad news out this morning whilst on Instagram checking out some new bands. He was my lecturer at college when I was studying music. He had the best stories and a smile that put you at ease immediately, a wonderful lecturer. He made my college experience one I’ll always cherish. Such sad news. Thinking of his loved ones. ❤️🥺

I saw him play with MSF last year. Was really looking forward to seeing him in 2019. I will never forget his sweet smile as he said "thank you" as well as his monster playing at that concert. Gone too soon. I feel horrible. Can't imagine what his family & friends must be going through. My deepest condolences to them.

After a set of Band of Friends, I speak a bit with him after the set,(Marcel was at the bar, too, but not Gerry); He was a very sympathical man, and we left, while he says "see you next time".... But there was no "next time".... RIP, Ted !
