That’s a man’s man right there . He was a damn good rider and has nothing to prove in terms of training either but I really looked forward to seeing him on C4 racing back in the day cos you never were quite sure what he would say next . He wasn’t scared to present his true thoughts , an odd swear word would sometimes drop on live air and it was all part of his personality , his honesty and his sense of fun . He could be quite intimidating at times but release the tension in the next breath with a funny one liner . He’s retired with his health and with my good wishes , good man Ted 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As a young Amateur Ted rode our horse Stable Inn to win by a mile in the getting out stakes bumper at Downpatrick in 1967 2:56 who I had nursed back to tiptop over 8 months hosing his old leg for an hour every day . Walking him around the ring he said he’s a bit lively and I said you’ll thrash this load of old donkeys and he came up the hill backed from 16s to 4/1 and won by 20 lengths . One of the happiest days of my life . Ted your a legend have a wonderful retirement!
