do you identify your self as half Fijian American half Samoan American or one or the other. I have noticed many that are of half african ethnicity and half other type of ethnicity, majority would claim their african ethnicity side more so than identify themselves as half/half, or does it just depend on your surroundings. thats an interesting subject. thanks.

I'm half last as well but have always identified myself as half Samoan half Fijian. To me you must never claim one without the other, its disrespectful you might as well spit in their face. But weirdly enough because I'm born in NZ and was never raised the "island" way, I've never felt excepted fully by either side and I feel its because of the language barrier as I was never taught to speak either of my native tongue. They've never said it but it's a vibe you feel. It's like I feel like I'm an embarrassment. I used to really feel like shit and have an identity crisis growing up but now I'm older I just dont give a fuck anymore so what I dont know the ways I know who I am. I'm a kiwi with Samoan Fijian heritage.
