Would recommend a visit to East Kirkby LAHC to everyone. Had the great pleasure of being on board "Just Jane" for my 50th birthday, wonderful experience, the noise, smells, vibration & cramped space on board a Lancaster! Managed(just!) to get in the rear gunners position. The thought of being cramped & isolated in there for a 10hr sortie, frightening!! Hence, we should always treasure & support these marvellous aircraft & those that keep them going, and by doing so, we all pay a nod of respect & appreciation to those brave brave aircrew who gave everything for us. Absolute respect to them all.

Oii Oii Colin thanks so much for sharing this. It is a very special place and the HC’s plans for these wonderful aircraft to be air worthy again. Absolutely, the cramped space of the rear gunner for that long period is unimaginable and some had the Perspex cut away for better visual but that meant really uncomfortable temperatures for them too. Many knew they may not come back from their sortie but they went… many died for our freedom. Well said Colin, thank you for this.

With the help of funding, donations from the public and of course the crew how put in the 1000s of hours keeping them in this condition and not forgetting the dedicated crew who are aiming to get them airworthy. Amazing 🤙🏼
