Allan is "Legendary". Listened to him on RJR from the mid 70's to the day he retired from broadcasting. Life is a journey and Allan has completed his part of that journey, leaving an indelible mark on the Jamaican populous he served for over 4 decades. Go in peace now Allan ❤.

I am a 54 year old Jamaican and had no idea that this song was done by former radio announcer Alan Magnus! I too recently heard this nostalgic gem on a tv commercial and was reminded of my childhood growing up in Jamaica in the 70's and 80's. By the way, is Alan Magnus still alive? I hope he is!

Yes, he still is kicking, but now retired. Sadly his wife and his 'radio wife', Doraine Samuels, passed recently in quick succession of each other.

There has been a spate of classic Rock Steady and Reggae songs being used in American commercials over the past few years. This is another one of them. Corona beer recently used Take It Easy by Hopeton Lewis in one of their commercials. I wonder who is earning money off these classic Jamaican tunes? I will bet it's not any of the artists or their families.
@michaelclemens44865 жыл бұрын
Steven McGarrett that’s a good question . Given that this song was a cover of Cliff Richard, it kind of makes me wonder how the publishing rights go when you record a song originally done by another artists. Regardless you have a great point in how many artists have been disenfranchised in regard to their great contributions to the music

Imagine folks' surprise when they find out this song was written by Georg Kajanus (aka Georg Hultgreen) of Sailor/Data fame! (I first heard it on the Kajanus Pickett [pre-Sailor] album "Hi Ho Silver!") I've never heard this arrangement before, though. Gotta say, I like it! :)
