In this video, I take a look at the Longines HydroConquest, a modern dive watch many of you asked me to review when I released my video taking a look at the standard Longines Conquest. For me, the HydroConquest is one of the best options for a dive watch in the strangely seldom-seen $1.5k price point. Are there any other modern watches from Longines you'd like me to take a look at?

Wow after some months of deliberation, I finally bought a black 41mm then only a few days later this video comes out! I find the HC to be absolutely stunning and I'm so chuffed with it! The rubber strap brings down the weight and makes the longer lugs wear a little smaller imo. Also, fits in nicely with a casual/active persons style that isn't at all out of place when dressed up on occasion, due to its clean appearance and nice clasp.

@K.J.H_
@K.J.H_ Жыл бұрын
@@m0xiemarlinspike I don't personally have any problem with them. The AD showed me a technique for winding where you kind of favour the index finger below the crown, rubbing it past the crown rather than gripping it fully. More of the crown is protruding at the bottom. So maybe that helped some.

I've had mine for 5 years. Just dropped by to see the more recent editions reviewed. For a lot of people, the clasp is a contentious issue, being press-fit rather than having deployment buttons but it is beautifully engineered to a very fine tolerance. It has a, kind of, 'goldilocks' tension while locking (not too hard/ not too weak); very confidence inspiring as it feels very secure. Some people find taking it off, to be painful but once you've owned one for a while you may discover 2 nice little hacks that turn opening the clasp into a breeze. Instead of using a fingernail under the indentation in the clasp, to open the (I can't remember what it's called) 'safety catch', grab the sides of it with the thumb and forefinger of your other hand, pull, and it opens very easily and painlessly. Then, instead of pulling the clasp open with the tip or fingernail of your thumb, slide the index finger of your other hand in between your wrist and the underside of the clasp and just push the centre, milled, 'strut' of the clasp out from between the other two 'struts' (again: '??') between, which, it is held captive by the simple press-fit system. If you already have one, try it. It may improve your opinion of the clasp and the watch. If you're thinking of getting one, bear it in mind, as it completely negates any qualms or misgivings that some people may have about it before, or whilst, buying the watch.

After spending months trying to find the perfect watch and at the same time trying to rationalize the cost of more notable brands such as Tudor and Omega for their specifications, the Longines Conquest and HydroConquest offers ridiculous value for the specifications offered. Double AR sapphire, ceramic bezel, 300m water resistance, 72hr power reserve in a beautiful package that combines elements from many well known models, these watches from Longines are such a steal, its borderline criminal. You would have to pay more for the more popular brands to get similar specifications. Well done Longines!

I received the black dial 41 mm on the black rubber strap for Christmas and after having worn it for a few weeks, have nothing but good things to say about it. It keeps great time, losing about 1 second a day. The sapphire crystal is of great quality and the AR treatment makes it easy to appreciate the dial. It wears comfortably even with the long lug to lug measurement. The crown is a bit hard to access and the lume is kind of weak, but those are relatively minor issues, since most of the time I wear it I don't need to see the lume or play with the crown. I don't think there is a better daily diver at that price point. And it is quite striking.

I just got my 41mm Hydroconquest in blue to go with my Conquest and Spirit. Longines offer so much value. I do think they should have priced it in the $1800-$2000 range and put that money into upgrading the clasp, bracelet and lume (in that order).

@@KillerDiaguR It's mainly the clasp and not the bracelet itself that I think could use an upgrade. When you compare it to Omega's clasps (and bracelets) when their watches were occupying the space that Longines has taken over, the Longines clasp doesn't cut it (neither does the bracelet.) Also, the bracelet on my Spirit is more comfortable than the one on the Hydroconquest. So, I think with a slight price bump, they could have addressed it.

It's amazing quality for the price, it hits the nail in the head in some aspects: The arabic font used is similar to the Explorer I, but elongated horizontally with number in 12 o'clock instead of 3 o'clock because of the date window, really nice reference. Also the snowflake design of the hour hand is a thousand times better than the one used by Tudor, more aesthetically appealing. Great watch. Bought myself the HC, in the grey ceramic and grey sunray dial - it's beautiful, I've been getting so many compliments from it. It's understated yet quite different in style. It's £1390 RRP.

Hi Teddy. Greetings from Australia. 🇦🇺 Thanks for an informative video on the Hydroconquest. 👏👏 I thoroughly enjoy your channel especially the fact that while you are an enthusiast, you are not a watch snob.👍 I recently bought a 41mm in blue with bracelet, ( partly influenced by your video, ) and it is my entry into a Swiss divers. I have found it to be functional, versatile, good looking and great value. Keep up the good work and stay safe. 🍻

I have the blue HC on rubber. It’s probably the least expensive piece in my collection. I bought it three months ago and I can’t take it off my wrist. No doubt Longines is a great value for the money. Possibly the best value out there right now IMO. The time variance is barely noticeable and Ive had many compliments on it. I also have the calendar chrono … 3K? Unbelievable!

I have a 39mm blue dial regular Conquest, and I'm starting to lust after this HydroConquest now. Apart from all the goodness you mentioned Teddy, it comes with one other pro for me - you will look long and hard to see another on someone's wrist. Unlike some other brands' divers, it's not a case of everyone and their dog has one of these

The watch is a very good offering from Longines. It's well made, accurate to COSC standards (in my personal experience) and wears well on my large wrist (my model is 41mm). The lug to lug distance is enormous and makes it wear like a 42-43 mm watch. This is a problem of most Longines watches, though. I wish they shorten the measurements in their future releases across the board. I even had problems rocking the 40mm Spirit becuase of the lug distance. The lug holes are in the middle, so the straps look weird and chafes against the lug ends, so if you think of getting an aftermarket strap - don't. Just stick to the bracelet (kinda meh) or the original rubber strap. On the flip side it's a very legible toolwatch bringing elegance and rugedness together in one price-compelling package.

It is an amazing watch. I wanted a daily beater and I had to decide between this watch and the Mido Ocean Star GMT. I went for the Mido and no regrets so far. With that being said, I am sure I would have been equally happy with this one.

It is the equal of any watch costing $2,000 and above. In what way would more money make this watch better. It would not improve the quality of the ceramic bezel, stainless steel case, dial, saphire crystal, water resistence, etc. The bracelet is incredibly comfortable. It has solid endlinks, solid links and is micro adjustible. It is every bit the equal of the $4,500 Todor Black Bay. The Black bay is only water resistent to 660 feet, whereas the Longines goes as far as 1,000 feet. No, this is intentionally underpriced in order to not compete with Omega. It is not just a great entry level luxory diver. It is simply a great diver. This uses a free sprung balance wheel. It is accurate to COSC specs even though it is not COSC certified. A great watch regardless of price.

I bought it yesterday and I love this watch already, it looks much better than on website, soon as I put it on my wrist I made decision to buy it. Can be worn in every occasion and style. Ordered rubber stap too to change its look time after time. Think this will be my everyday watch, it’s really comfortable to wear, not too thick and can be worn under the dress shirt. Price is great for Swiss watch with history starting from 1832, it costs a bit more than Iphone which have to be replaced every 3/4 years, this watch will last you lifetime.

Guess I'm the minority in this but yea I just bought the 43mm black dial and truly loves it. I've tried the 41mm, the lug fits nice but the diameter feels relatively small to see since I'm used to 44mm Seiko Prospex & G-steel gshock. And finding this 43mm is not an easy task either since most shops sell only 41mm (the hot ones), but finally got one with good price & love this as my first ever luxury swiss watch.

Nice video Teddy, Thanks. This is my ‘Grail’ watch I picked up the 41mm ceramic bezel blue dial in the recent Black Friday sale. The ‘sharp’ crown, I find is more noticeable when screwing the crown back in but it’s not bad. I love everything else about this watch including the bracelet, the finishing and the weight on my wrist.

Hydro conquest is the best dive watch if u have small wrist .. the best part of this watch is it’s diameter and it’s width . I was thinking Tudor black bay but it was too thick doesn’t fit good at all , the moment I tried this hydro conquest I fell in love with it , looks like it’s tailor made for my small wrist and it’s very minimalist… u can’t go wrong with this watch… grey , blue and green has the sun burst looks great

I bought this watch in the 39 instead as the Tag Heuer Aquaracer 200m as my beater watch.The Longines has a ceramic bezel and a better movement for almost half the price of the Tag.If only the base hydro conquest had the gmt bracelet and clasp.Funny thing though although I have a watch collection both this Longines and Tag will be mostly purchased by people that it will be there only watch.

Excellent review, as always! I'd like to point out that imo the 41mm version that you are reviewing here should be sold with a narrower bracelet (like 20mm lug-to-lug) and maybe a slight tapering to the clasp. I think that the proportions of the 41mm case need a narrower bracelet (the 43mm looks great with the same 21mm bracelet). Also, it seems that they switched to a green(ish) lume lately? My 43mm variant doesn't feature a blue lume...

I'm well pleased by my 39mm black dial variant of the HydroConquest. It's a smart looking modern watch from a reputable brand that works well on my 16cm wrist. It retails for $1275 but can be had for under $1000, so I feel comfortable wearing it. Owning it has stopped my urge to get a much more expensive diver.

Longines are really good looking watches. But I prefer the models with only 6 and 12 marked with digits. With such a big sized 6, 9 and 12, the abscense of 3 dramatically breaks the symmetry. Either only 6 and 12 OR the date window at 6 o' clock. But the best is no date, in my opinion!

Agreed, the numerals ruin it. I would prefer four smaller numerals without a date. That would make it really great.
