Legend Diver is awesome, big fan since 2010. However, given it's fairly simplistic and classic design, the price at £3k for the 39mm is frankly outrageous. It should be a £1500-£2k watch in line with it's build, design and target market.

13:58 - I really love my BB58, it was a no brainer when i bought it. I was looking for a vintage looking watch for daily use and change between my Omega Seamaster 300. I’ve got it in a classic black and bracelet combo and it looks beautiful. I think it’s one of those “Exit Watches” for me, and maybe a piece of a one watch collection.

Teddy, your macro photography is outstanding and really captures details that get to the essence of a watch. For my money I’d go with the Longines as I prefer to have something distinctive on wrist… at the risk of enraging fans of the Crown, there are a lot of Tudor / Rolexes out there. The Longines would do a better job dressing up and down as well IMHO. That said, for actual diving, I’d get the Tudor. More legible face. 😊

The Legend Diver has a unique and elegant look to it, which I really like. (I have the green dial and bronze case, which is 42 mm.) It's also a strap monster. The BB58 looks like, well, a hundred other dive watches, although the green/gold BB is also outstanding in the good looks department.

I agree. I own both of these watches and I think every point in this video is true. But I find the Legend Diver more versatile and comfortable. I wear my Legend Diver a lot more than the Tudor. I swap between 3 different lether straps and rarely on the bracelet. I never had a question or a compliment to my Tudor, but people often have questions about my Longines. And then I love the big chunk of crystal on top of the watch.

I have both of these. On versatility, I would argue the Legend Diver is more versatile. With the beads rice bracelet and the inner bezel, it looks far more elegant and is more suitable for “dressy” occasions than the entirely toolish BB58

I can not agree with heritage part. Longines has better heritage as a brand, and legend diver has better heritage than BB because it has its own design language. Black bay is retro rolex submariner. So, that is clear win for Longines. Overall i prefer black bay, but in terms of heritage - no no.

I have both and feel the Longines wears thinner and lighter on my 6.5” wrist. Both are awesome all around. The Longines wears dressier with the beads of rice and is arguably dressier without external bezel. Tudor clasp much more premium. I could go on, but Teddy covered it. Both are keepers!!! 😊

@OutdoorCanadians
@OutdoorCanadians 11 ай бұрын
On your point about crown placement…. The LLD having two crowns actually feels more comfortable because it doesn’t have the one singular pressure point right at the 3 o clock position that usually will dig into your wrist. By having the crowns at 2 and 4 it actually feels more natural and sticks out less than a typical crown and especially the BB crown.

Interesting. I have the opposite opinion. Bb58 looks like a generic diver that I’ve seen a million times from a thousand other brands before. The Longines looks thin and classy, which makes it way more versatile in my opinion. As someone who is active on the weekends and wears a suit to work, I feel like I could wear the longines with a suit or for a casual swim. No way in hell I’m wearing that bb58 with a suit.

I own both. Agree with many of the points, great breakdown. The one thing I would add is that the Longines Legend Diver looks a lot dressier on the wrist. This gives it more versatility with my office and work environment. I have the 42 mm version of the Legend Diver with the Milanese bracelet which I think suits the watch much better than the beads of rice.

Great review. I recently purchased my BB58 Blue and it's beautiful. The bracelet is very well made but may give issue with the adjustment for some. I wish it had the T fit bracelet. I picked up an Uncle Seiko half link that matches very well and fixes sizing for some people for around $35 shipped. It is an absolute strap monster and can work so well with a brown, black, blue leather strap, rubber strap or NATO. The versatility of wearabilty after ownership along with the 5 year fully transferable factory warranty make the Tudor a standout.

I never see a modern diver use a Longines diver watch for real diving. They are just good looking. That is the point. For me, both are good and loved. Just depends on the price which both are exceeded my budget to buy a diving watch for daily use. For a diving watch for daily use, USD 2000 is the most for me. We have many choices in this price range. Longines, Oris, Seiko, Casio, Citizen, Tissot, Certina .....many many out there. Recently, Tudor Pelagos FXD is hot. They catching my eye ..........and at a good price too.

The BB58 is on my list of things to pick up. I've had the pleasure of handling them in person on numerous occasions and I find myself loving it more each time (it fits perfectly on my 6.5 in. wrist). I can appreciate the Longines but the style just isn't for me. That could change if I viewed it in person, but I expect that since I don't like the design as much, it would really take a wow moment for me to choose it over the BB58.

I own a BB58 - The design is so classic that it's a no-brainer for me. Lots of people call it boring but it's a classic for a reason. Perfect proportions, the feel on the wrist is perfect. I know it catches a lot of flack for the bracelet but I personally don't mind it. Longine is compelling but at the end of the day people are going to get the longine based off budget or if they don't want to be percieved as boring. In my opinion at least.

You can't go wrong with either watch; they are both fantastic. I believe an important question that any potential buyer should ask themselves is, how do you want to use the watch? Personally, I find the BB58 a bit less dressy, and for the everyday workplace, subtlety is crucial to me (I have a Brew Metric - Gold & Black, and I only wear it on the weekends as it attracts so much attention). I prefer the BB58's looks, and as a man with a gold ring on the same arm, I love the combination with the BB58 gilt dial. Finally, I was initially unsure about purchasing the BB58 as it was a significant investment for both me and my partner, and I had always dreamed of owning a Rolex; unfortunately, the Daytona will only forever be a dream. However, after having the BB58 for two years, it has proven to be the perfect watch. I find myself growing more annoyed with Rolex every week and enjoying my Tudor

The BB looks like a Rolex Sub with different hands great but original NO. If any other brands do the same thing and they Do, they get crapped on for copying not having an original design and so on. Tudor gets a big pass why? Longines subjective yes but in person the watch is quite the looker. I know as an enthusiast we all jump on the train, lets be more individual and try jumping on other trains.

Thanks for making this video. Both of these watches are on my radar. Question to Longines: The 36 and 42mm Legend Divers have beautiful sunburst dials, why not on the 39?

While I love longines and the legend diver, I have to give this one to Tudor. They got this model right from the start; the dimensions , the fit, the colors- too bad it doesnt come with the t-fit clasp though. It couldnt replicate it with the BB54 as the gilt on the bezel and the 10 minute markings on the 58 really contribute to making it what it is.

Note that SteelReef makes an outstanding EasyLink for the Tudor, if you don’t have the T-Link. Mine is excellent. On the comparison, I love and own multiples of both brands, but the double crown on Longines would push me to Tudor.

My votes for the Tudor in this comparison, but I am loving Longines!

Forme these 2 watches are on a similar level. But there are also cheaper options from other brands depending what is of importance to you. If I had to choose I would go for the Longines.

I have the LLD 42 mm blue degradé and I wouldn't change it with these 2.

Actually, the 42 mm LLD with date is my wish and better than 39 mm in my point of view.

I find the Longines Legand Diver at 39mm appalling with the upgrade of technical spec and newer grey dial colour. Put it on a good milanese mesh braclet and wow!

Something which seems to me really annoying is when the supplied bracelet looks like an afterthought. I understand that there is some tolerance of the fit between case and end link, but my watches built from mod parts are often more pleasing.. What really jars is that circular brushing on the case face then is met at the first link with vertical brushing, while it's common to see even haute horologie then blends the sides. I really love bracelets, can this not be done right?

the optionality category is unfair to the Longines, because it has just been released. 100% sure that there will be more options, many more!
