Hey Teddy, I just left Cleveland. Went there with my family. We're from Germany on vacation in the US. Only because of your Q & A, where you answered "Why Cleveland", I had the idea to visit on our trip. It's been really nice. The old industrial charme meeting modern architecture. Old steel, new glass - just loved it. The Brewdog was also very nice. 😊 Thanks for the indirect tip and in general the great content here on KZbin. Cheers! Michael

Excellent recommendations Teddy! Once again, Jon came through with a terrific gift for my son. I am purchasing the new Mido TV watch in blue next week. This is my fourth watch purchased from your team. I am certain he will wear it for many years to come. Please extend my appreciation to Jon and your team for their outstanding work.

The wrist shot of the Explorer is one of the best I have ever seen. It really conveys how the watch actually wears. Most wrist shots make the 36 look way bigger than it actually is.
@dskim24
@dskim24 Жыл бұрын
I noticed that too. In terms of photography, people need to back up a bit and use a longer lens. On the other hand, the case-exaggerating effects of the closer and wider angle does convey the experience of having your face close to the watch as one would when looking at your own watch. I believe it was Annie Liebovitz who liked to walk the line of a lens that's too short; whether or not the viewer understood the effects of forshortening, a brain will automatically understand that you're closer to that person's face. Same with these wrist shots. But I always think huge cases look terrible. Unless you're a linebacker, I think 38mm should be your upper ceiling. You'll end up looking like a kid wearing his dad's jacket.

I think the VC Overseas is the most versatile (vs the Chopard or Patek) due to the inclusion of the rubber AND leather straps. Especially when you pick a more subdued dial color.

@@brads1545 I wonder if the difference is day to day style. Teddy is generally preppy and white collar. The explorer is better than most of these watches if your day to day wear is tactical gear and camping. Sure the explorer dresses up ok, but it's kinda of a stretch in a suit. Sure the Tissot Gentleman dresses down okay, but it's kind of a stretch working on your motorcycle.

I hear ya about versatility being different for each person. For me, my go to daily wear is the white dial Christopher Ward Sealander. 39mm case, 150m water resistance. Looks good on its steel bracelet, or any other strap material and colour. I've worn it on many adventures from camping, to hiking, to swimming, and it doesn't look out of place dressed up on date night. Great list, Teddy! Love the updated Longines Conquest. Stunning watch!

Great choices and excellent quality content as always, Teddy 👍 One watch I think you missed is what Bulgari just unveiled - the new Octo Roma. It's thin and wearable with the bracelet and a rubber strap both included in the package at msrp & an easy strap-change system incorporated into it. I think it is the very definition of versatile. Also,😊 at $7000, it beats the pants off the Cartier Santos and gives stiff competition to the Rolex Explorer (which, ngl, is still my grail) 😊

Great list! Love the Gentleman call-out. In the metal SBGA413 won me over for its surprising versatility over it's brother SBGA415. Nautilus over Aquanaut is surprising for versatility. Might consider Chris Ward C63 and Formex Essence to add a couple micros. Nomos Club Sport neomatik would be another great consideration if looking at the Black Bay and Longines bracket

I think the Junghans Max Bill is very versatile - especially with the black dial. Water resistance could be better (50 m), but the fact that the case is barely there helps it blend into any environment. Works with a tux - and works with a tee.

haha, I think you're right, thought of that one, too. I've got a vintage Chronomaster from yr ~2000, that I find is very dressy and chique and would probably fit into most outfits with that silver guilloché dial. However, talking about versatility, I can see this one loose ground to others just because it's maybe a bit too classy for rather casual outfits.

Good video! I think having a diver Bezel is one of the most useful feature of a watch, even for most desk divers -- from cooking, to parking, to poormans gmt. Therefore the Sub has my nod as one of the most versatile watch. I am just surprised that watch brands haven't put a time bezel on non-divers yet!

Great video with some amazing recommendations!! I purchased a Zodiac Jetomatic a few years ago and it has overtaken my other watches to become a daily favourite which works as a sport watch, a casual watch, you can wear it with a suit, or with shorts on a beach. It's my all rounder. In fact I was so impressed with the Jetomatic that I purchased a Super Sea Wolf 68 as my Diver which I swap back and forth with my blue dial Citizen Automatic Promaster 200M Diver. I think that the Zodiac name when you consider the types of watches they produce is very much overlooked.

Great list! However, I was surprised to not see anything from Nomos. I think the Club sport 37mm is a viable option, but also the Ahoi line. I own the Ahoi 567 and think it works in just about any occasion (as is also marketed by the brand) - classic Tangente design but with improved water resistance and crown guards. So the Ahoi is definitely more sporty, but the size and thickness means it also works very well with buttoned up attire 🙂

What a great video. I've found myself going more towards this style of watch for my collection (still got dive watches in there too obvs.). I feel that lower end watches (my end) are great but could be developed without the general trend to have half-second markers on the dial and just have seconds. Appreciate that takes some out of their category of field-esque style, but would also elevate them up the ladder for the lower cost. We see this a bit more in the micro brand sphere. Would love a replication of the video with microbrand watches (e.g. Traska)

I own an overseas dual timer but I wouldn't call it very versatile because it is extremely loud and flashy on the wrist. When I wear it, people notice because of it's finish. I just got a horage supersede and I find it to be extremely subtle because of the finishing and the diver bezel. It's still an integrated bracelet watch but I wear it almost every day. Before I got this piece, I was wearing a blancpain leman dual timer and my zenith captain elite dual timer for most days (yes I love gmt and dual time complications). Both of those watches are extremely versatile and understated. I also have the new version of the alpinist with the compass insert, I brought a bracelet for it as well which I like more than the strap that came with it. Great list as always Teddy.

For me, a versatile watch has to have some thing that will let you track time. Unless, of course, it’s a chronograph rotating bezels are perfect. If you’re making a pizza or timing your coffee brew in the morning the Alpinist is perfect, not only can you use it as a compass (Boy Scout compass trick) you can set the north marker to your minute hand and time anything! it’s a beautiful dress/dive/tool watch 200 m of water resistance. The rotating bezel is an absolute plus! Please don’t call the cyclops a cyclops:) it’s really more of a dewdrop. It looks like a drop of rain. I have a rather large watch collection. I wear my Seiko Alpinist all the time. For me it is the ultimate versatile everything watch. …in my humble opinion:) Teddy, thanks for the great content. Please keep up the good work. I love your videos!

Damn Longines is killing it lately. I was already obsessed with the spirit Zulu. But those new Conquests models in different colors are gorgeous too. Kind of like the omega aqua shades, or a cheaper Datejust / OP alternative
