I will be getting a Seamaster in two weeks ( the only question is color and bracelet or rubber ). Some forty years ago, my dad came home with an Omega and since then I have been fascinated by the brand. I was never able to afford a higher end watch all these years settling for cheaper options. Having celebrated my 50th birthday last year in the midst of the pandemic and unable to celebrate it in any meaningful way, I finally decided this year to get my dream watch - The Seamaster. I am so excited and am sure that I will enjoy it for a lifetime. This watch represents for me a dream of a lifetime and an homage to my father. Thanks again Teddy for another great review.

I have owned 5 Seamasters since I got into the hobby. Two Planet Oceans and three 300Ms. Not a single one had the bracelet. It is a subjective opinion for sure, but I have never liked Omega's bracelets. On the other hand, their rubber and nato straps are absolutely amazing. Enjoy your watch!

Hi, I got the Seamaster 300 Diver in blue on a bracelet a few years ago and its stunning, from the dial to the caseback and the excellent movement it is perfect. I dont have a large wrist but it wears more like a 40mm, get it on the bracelet, which is also excellent especially with sliding adjuster, then you can add another strap later if you want. Go for it.

As many have said buy it with the bracelet then add the rubber band which is cheaper than doing it in the reverse. Allows you to dress it up or down as needed. I have the white dial and currently using the black rubber and it just looks amazing. Enjoy.

I bought this exact same watch 8 months ago-- I bought a Rolex Sub almost four years ago at retail before the world and market lost their minds... my Omega gets worn 3 times more than my Sub does--- it just wear better, and frankly looks better in my opinion. Here's my take... 5,000 is a lot of money for 98% of the population to spend on a watch (yours included). So to call this an "entry" in the luxury watch market I think is inaccurate; for many, (yours included) this price point is the high end of what they can spend on a watch and often times is the pinnacle or "grail" of their collection. -- The entry brand into "luxury watches" in my opinion would be TAG.... So if my assessment has any validity the reason Omega is doing so well lately is that the average consumer who wants to buy one luxury watch once in their lifetime and has a budget of 5-7k, where do they spend it? It's not going to be on a Rolex; not the way the market has been the last several years--- and right there waiting in the wings for these consumers has been Omega... they have been killing it the last 3-4 years... (off topic, I think the swatch Collaboration is going to pay huge dividends over the next decade for this brand too). Finally, you are treated exactly how you should be treated in an Omega boutique when you are dropping 5-8k on a watch-- like a king-- night and day better experience than when I picked up my sub at the Rolex AD---

Totally agree David. To say that 5k is entry level is a bit silly. That is more money than anyone needs to spend on a luxury item like a watch. Omega is just within reach for most who want that special watch. Tag was my entry in to luxury watches. Couldn't agree more with your comment

I have the black dial and wear it every single day. Omega is less expensive, actually available, more accurate with METAS, and Omega boutiques make you feel like a King when you're there. Its seriously a no-brainer. I love the He valve precisely because it's pointless. It's unique and acts like that set of headlights on a car that make you recognize exactly what you're driving past on the highway even at night. The haters are usually Rolex snobs which means their opinion means precisely Jack poo to me. I don't care about resale. I don't care about clout. I want the best possible technical diving tool available at the price point and there is no denying that the Diver 300M is just that. Omega for life.

The white 300M was my first real watch and I pair it with a red rubber strap which brings out the red accents on the dial (Seamaster writing and second hand) and I absolutely love it. Like you say, it's effortless enough to look casual yet classy with jeans and a T and is also flashy enough to dress up with a nice button down. Durable too, after 2 years of being my main daily wear it's showing only one fine scratch. Edit: I should also mention I bought it new and the purchasing experience at the Omega boutique was next-level. I was and am treated like a true and valued customer not someone that should be thanking their god for being allowed to enter the store and breath the same air as them.

The Seamaster 300 was my first serious horological investment. I bought the no wave right as this new design came out. I tried on both at the Omega Store. It was no contest that the new watch was technically a big leap forward. But the no wave just wore better on my smaller wrist and I though it's less busy dial made it look classier and the movement was a tried and true one. I love the watch, but it has bit me in the ass. Its keeps great time but the date constantly misaligned in the date window. It's back at Omega for the third time for this issue. If they don't fix it this time I'll sell it as the warranty is running out and I'm frustrated 😤.

Some complain about the lack of taper on the bracelet. I did not even notice that until it was brought to my attention in someone’s video. As much as I wanted to buy this watch, at the last moment, I decided to go with the Speedmaster Professional 3861 Hesalite version. My love for Omega started when my Dad introduced me to his watch some 40 years ago as outlined in my post below. My brother who is four years older than me came to the US from India to study Aerospace Engineering, as he was a huge fan of NASA and the moon landings. I still recall us watching the challenger launch as teenagers and the eventual tragedy. As i looked toward him, I could see tears streaming down his cheeks as he knew it was the end of NASA and the US space program as we knew it. The Moonwatch is an homage to my dad who inspired in me the love of Omega and to my brother who instilled in me the love of space. My brother told me a couple of weeks ago that he has a $$ figure in mind that he will pay for a commercial fight with SPACEX. The price of that commercial flight he figures will reach his tolerance level in the next 5 years. On that flight, he said he wants to be wearing my Moonwatch. I bought one of these as my first Omega - 300M, blue & Sedna gold on the rubber strap. It has rapidly become my favorite watch. Prior to this the only luxury piece I owned was a Breitling Top Time and I have been blown away at how much more solid and higher quality feeling the Omega is. Although I *am* thinking of throwing an Uncle Seiko bracelet on it, since the amount of blue from the bezel, dial, and strap is a little much.

When you consider the escalating prices of even entry level luxury watches, the 300M diver (like it or not), may just represent the best value in all of horology at the moment. I truly love this watch. I really want to check out the green one in the metal one day. The size may be a sticking point for some but I felt that it wears just fine. My one gripe is the bracelets lack of taper. I love the clasp features but I just wish that part could be downsized a bit. If omega could make that happen I’d be in.

I fell in love with this watch when it came out in the Bond Series! This newest generation, is the best "Luxury Dive Watch" for the money. The dial, as your video shows the light/reflections run thru a beautiful range of colors! The Valve throws off the balance for me and others. I would love for Omega offer a version with a built in HEV or not at all. The 300 Heritage, is still my first choice, with an older 300M Pro, as well.(Looking online to pull the trigger at some point). I like a tapered bracelet, however, this bracelet is so striking and reviewers say its so comfortable and can live with it. I read a review of the 300MPro, and the reviewer said he did not like the Escape Value. He rationalized that he could pretend it was a remote detonator or a laser control. I would also. As always Teddy, this was a great presentation! Thank you.

I have owned this watch for more than 2 years now, and I haven’t had any issues with the AR coating or with the He escape valve. The valve doesn’t get in the way or poor me, ever, and the top of the crystal may have the slightest bit of a mark where the coating was scuffed on the crystal in one spot. I wear this watch as my daily, and it’s my one watch collection so I wear it during basically everything. This is just for people wondering about the issues and how they might affect the wear. Hope this helps

Teddy when I first saw the ads for these in the 1990s I mistakenly thought it was a black dial watch. I went to look at them and was disappointed they were blue, but I ended up buying a mid-size quartz version, which was my first nice watch. Then I discovered Rolex and went and bought a black steel Submariner. Then after that, I had a series of epiphanies. First was realizing the world of Rolex vs Omega. Then, I realized the Omega was actually more sophisticated than at first glance, because the Omega had a glare resistant coating on the crystal, vs. the "old man" dome design like the Rolex became quite appreciated. After this, I went and bought their big Seamaster 300M Chronometer, ETA movement, which had hands resembling sports car tachometers, and hark, the buttons even worked underwater without screw-downs! Also, I realized that these blue dial Omegas match the color of sea water and pool water and this benign observation is actually is what makes them super super cool to those in the know! And then I realized the Bezel's edge was actually a "ocean wave" design. Omega should have built them without the Helium escape valve, and why they didn't, only God knows. After that, I bought a 1999 Rolex Zenith Daytona, and my introduction into this crazy world of watches was now in full bloom. I realized after all this, that the Chrono 300 Diver had three sub-dials like a Daytona, the blue wave dial with red painted hands that looked like sports car dials underwater, and you could start and stop the chrono movement underwater, all for 1/3 the money of a Daytona. Unlike the Daytona, it even had the date on it! Let me tell you, often you decide to start a chrono on short notice. On the Daytona, at that moment, you don't have time to unscrew the buttons. But, as everyone knows, with the Daytona, it is how it looks, not how it works. In some way, the Omega 300M Chrono is like having a Daytona, a Yacht-Master, and a Submariner all in one watch. These Days the Chrono is worth $3,000, but my Daytona, Yacht-Master, and GMT Rolex's are worth some $60,000 !!! I could cry ...

The Omega Seamaster 300/ Diver is by far my favourite watch. I love the black ceramics of the current gen and also got a „vintage“ 22208000 on my sons birthday. The latter has actually also remarkably risen in price, but quite obviously I can never sell it. The 300 is a masterpiece of a vintage remake and also a fantastic watch. As it has been previously commented here: The accuracy of the newest calibers of Omega is incredible. Worn on the wrist regularly, mine actually achieves +/- 0s per day, so I never have to re-adjust. Also the power reserve runs a bit longer than the stated 55h which carries it over the weekend. Just hands down fantastic!

YES! I own a black dial SMP300, and also briefly owned the white dial. In black, I'd add that it's shockingly versatile (much more so than I expected), and while retaining a definite formidable presence can be surprisingly elegant and understated (for a dive watch, that is). As for the helium valve, personally, I love it, and along with the wave pattern dial on the current gen find those important design selections for a bit of sporty flare. They also significantly differentiate the SMP300 from the Sub, Superocean, GO, etc., etc. With those elements it's very much its own watch, whereas without them, in my mind it would be just kind of another standard diver. Of course, they're not for everyone, and for that reason I'd actually see the Seamaster 300 as having more potential to dress up a bit while leaving the sports to the SMP. As for the price-point, indeed, it's the king of $5k, and I find it interesting nobody else has really tried to make a go at $5k...

I’m planning on getting the white dial on the bracelet later this year and I’ll add the rubber band as an accessory. I think it is unapologetically Omega and love that it isn’t trying to be a cookie cutter dive watch. The He valve is quintessentially SeaMaster and it’s surprisingly not uncomfortable. The laser cut dial looks stunning in basically every color. As much as I like the current Bond watch, I would get it on the NATO because I don’t love the bracelet. I was lusting after an Aqua Terra for a long time, but the 300 is much better suited for my large wrists and the white dial does naughty things to me.

Omega is my #1 favorite brand these days. I think if the new SMP got the old HEV valve nobody would really mind because that thing was quite small. The HEV is a part of the design language now. Shrink it down, don't eliminate it. The real update I want to see is a presidential style bracelet option for the SMP line, which historically Omega has done. Their new Speedmaster presidential bracelet is honestly as good as it gets, IMHO.

The blue in particular is so hard to capture through a lens. Happened to catch this video while wearing mine and it never quite shows like it does in person. Same with the dial and the hand set. It almost looks white in some lighting conditions. The quality of finish is right up there with the crowned one. Its bracelet is especially strange: dated looking with no taper and an ugly clasp. It needs something more like a brushed Rolex Oyster bracelet, which is great. Subs and even their bracelets are just iconic, too, which is another reason to gravitate towards them. Having said this, I actually quite like the no date James Bond SeaMaster which has quite a number of small tweaks that improve it but unfortunately it's much too expensive for what it is.

My favorite watch, I've got the blue on bracelet and the white on rubber. The helium escape valve is part of the charm and makes it easily recognizable. Just a great watch all-around.

Mine loses around half a second a day, I'm so happy I chose this watch,, I was torn between this, and the Pelagos, I think I made the right decision,, the only downside I've found, is the clasp, which is a total scratch magnet, ! It's easy to fix though, a Garryflex block, brings it back to perfect in no time,, I wear it on an Isofrane strap, for the summer, so at least the clasp scratches are a winter thing, !! 😮

This was my first "real" watch, and I happen to be a certified diver so it spoke to me directly. I purchased it about ten years ago, and I prefer it to the newer, 42mm version, which I find a bit garish. I particularly like older bracelet, which has just the right weight and feels silky against my skin. I think Omega got a bit carried away designing multiple versions, which, as you point out, are now almost too numerous to count. Seriously, a dive chronometer? Time to get back to basics, through I do have a soft spot for the helium escape valve.

Just got one last month and I adore it. I originally was sure I wanted an Aqua Terra but when I tried the 300 on it just fit my wrist better.

Since I can no longer find or afford Rolexes I'm into Omegas - I have black 300M on steel bracklet and blue on rubber strap....plus now have a Speedy.

Nice. It’s funny I just got a black dial in bracelet (plus rubber strap) and am considering getting the blue one in the future which goes against my personal watch collecting philosophy of not owning two colors of the same watch LOL.

as an owner of both, it’s ahead of the black bay both technically and in terms of finishing. This is a submariner level watch without the Rolex premium. You have to step up to Gladshutte for a better-finished, more visually impressive modern dive watch

I compared it to the Glashütte "SeaQ Date Panorama (and not Gladshutte like you said), and i'm really failing to see in what way the Glashütte would be superior. I'd rather say the opposite, despite costing less half the price of the SeaQ Date (12900€ for the Glashütte and 5700€ for the Omega), the Omega is still a superior watch in every way. On top of that Omega is Swiss Made while the Glashütte is made in Germany (which is very good, but when it comes to horology, Swiss rules).

In what ways is it technically better than the BB58? Also, you sure about finishing? The bracelet on the BB58 is a lot better, and finished much better. Also, I would encourage you to take a look at their dials under a micro, because the quality control on the BB58 for a 4k watch is insane.

@@rickyromano6659 On this one sorry mate but i have to agree with him ! Have you already held in your hands both watches, the Seamaster and the Black bay side by side ? If you did you would instantly feel and see the difference ! The omega is superior for sure ! The comparison would be the same with a BMW Vs a Volkswagen. Both are good german brands but BMW makes superior cars ! Samething goes for Tudor and Omega...

@@rickyromano6659 Omega is more in the "Rolex league range". Tudor is excellent bang for the buck ! But created by hans wilsdorf (The Rolex founder) to be more affordable watches. And almost all Omega have double certifications COSC + Metas, while most Tudor only have COSC at best...

@@escanor9920 that is not true. All BB58 are amagnetic and have silicon hairsprings and balance wheels, but for fun and to be silly the BB58 ceramic is METAS certified. They aslo have a 70 hour power reserve are much thinner and smaller in diameter than the Omega calibre 8800 with only a 55 hour powerreserve. Rolex has moved up market and now competes with Glashutte Original, Blancpain, Patek, and AP. Tudor does still offer watches the like the 1926 with 3rd party movements, but for the most part they have also moved up market, are making their own in house movements and are now in some ways what Rolex use to be.

I absolutely love mine in white! And i also preferred mine on a strap. My bracelet barely gets used. I wear mine on a Artem Sailcloth and it’s amazing! I even love the H valve! It gives it character and makes it standout!

Brosnan’s Bond introduced me “high end” Swiss watches. I’ve had Seiko 6309s I wore religiously on land and spearfishing but nothing Swiss. The Bond Seamasters with the 1120 movements were dependable and watches were affordable. Purchased 2, the Bond model and the one with sword hands. Unfortunately sold both when Rolex fever hit. Most of my watches now are Rolex but would I purchase another Seamaster Pro? For nostalgia’s sake: sure, but this time in green.

Absolutely love the blue one. Sold my Black Bay for it since I felt like Rolex Sub wasn't offering enough for the money and after having the SMP for a month I feel like I don't want to sell it to get a Rolex anymore. Also, love how you can wear the SMP with anything daily and for me the price point lets me really use it without worrying it getting scratched. If you're thinking about buying it, just do it!
