Yeah I'm a New Zealander and you are right about the kia rite a upane part being used in Haka and that is where Chan got inspiration from! "Kia rite" means be ready in te reo Māori (the Māori language aka the language of our indigenous peoples, Māori). I'm not exactly sure what a upane means but it is an exclamation used in quite a few haka. Haka was used not only to scare away enemies but also as a challenge to visitors who came on to different tribes land to respect the land and the people on it that were not there's. Even nowadays in New Zealand whenever you come on to a marae (meeting place of a Māori tribe) or join a school we have a Pōwhiri (welcoming ceremony) and haka is a part of this as it is a way of showing respect to the visitors or new students and also challenging them to respect you and hold up the values of the place they are entering while they are there. Chan has visited New Zealand before and has showed interest in te ao Māori (Māori culture), even saying that he's interested in learning the language. The dance to SKZ's song Miroh is also partially inspired by haka. As a Stay learning both Korean and te reo Māori myself it's really cool to see Chan have such an interest in it!

When they dropped the skz player for this song back in 2018, I remember reading a comment from a stay saying a upane meaning one step forward/another step forward. Or something like that. Idk how accurate that is, but I love the cultural influences they all take and draw inspiration from and seeing it created into a 3racha/skz masterpiece

Zone was one of the first 3Racha songs that I heard when I just found skz. I have never been a rap person but skz made me change my mind. And believe me, as soon as I listened to Zone I lost my sh*t!! I loved it!! And that was when I knew Han was definitely my fav rapper in skz and still is. Not that I don't appreciate the talent of other rappers in skz, but definitely Han's rap style is the friendliest to my ears and soul, it drives me mad in the best way possible. Han confused me SO much the first few times I listened to ZONE before I really recognized their voices and undertones. And I actually googled Chans lyrics from the Chorus back then because they felt oddly familiar and they are indeed Maori and part of the Haka!

3RACHA supremacy 👑 I think the reason why this was recommended so much recently was because the tonal flex Han did in the 3racha track on Maxident reminded everyone of his skills on Zone; he seriously sounds like a different person throughout his verse. I will say the video for Zone isn’t super exciting or anything so the lyric video was a good choice. Again suggesting Carpe Diem and Passion from 3RACHA!

My vote is Ateez, I believe they suit your musical preferences over BtoB who are more melodic/vocally driven. Although there are certain stand-out Ateez songs I think you will love, I actually suggest you listen to Ateez in the order the music videos were released (so start with Pirate King and Treasure). They are a concept group with a pretty strong storyline taking place throughout so if you watch out of order it might be harder to follow.

Considering what you've been into so far kpop wise, I'd say Ateez. BTOB are fantastic but they are very much a melodic group, even though they do have some hiphoppier stuff. But they are an older generation of kpop. A lot of the music before skz's gen was more focused on vocal melody and high concepts. Alternatively I would also recommend Monsta X. Rap line is fire, even though they've mellowed out a bit over the years. If you're interested - Shoot Out or Alligator for the whole group or Triple Rythm (Ssambakja) for the rap line.

I'd love you to react to Ateez, they are amazing performers who never fail to amaze me. BTOB are also very talented with good music, but i believe you tend to like Ateez's music more, their concept is more similiar to skz's, since they have that "wild" stage presence and hype beat in most of their songs. BTOB is more like a singing heavy group with ballad like songs (if I'm not mistaken). Also Chagbin and Ateez's Wooyoung are good friends and the members of both groups have great interactions (the ones i'm referring to are mainly from the reality show Kingdom Legendary War, also very worth watching, skz did great performances there).

Also 3Racha reacted to their old stuff in a few lives long time ago and they were so surprised how good this one was 😂 also he other one I'd like to recommend is this one 3RACHA - 은석이 it's very unique and quite dark. I vote for Ateez… Hongjoong is the leader of Ateez and he is the guy in the baseball cap on the Mayfly collab with 3racha on Kingdom. He did an amazing cover of Numb by Linkin Park, one of his favourite bands. Very talented guy himself and Ateez & SKZ are very good friends. Kinda my 2nd favourite k-group behind SKZ. ATEEZ ATEEZ ATEEZ PLEASE But on an unbiased note, they are more up your alley than BTOB, both are very different groups (both amazing though!) Ateez are good friends with Stray Kids (Changbin and Wooyoung are besties!!) They are very involved with their own music and it's worth noting they are known for their amazing performance/dance (like SKZ are well known for their rap-line). For a first reaction, I would either suggest their most recent song Guerrilla, or Wonderland, MV first and then you can watch the Wonderland performance they did on Kingdom! EDIT: OR if you really want to get into them you could start from the beginning and go through the MVs in order because Ateez have a very deep and interesting storyline that is connected to their MVs and performances... If you go straight into Guerrilla you'll probably be confused... I'd be more than keen to help you on your Ateez journey (that's if you want to go down that path, no pressure haha) 😄

Ateez!! I really thought you had already done some reactions to them. Ateez are Masters of performance and have ALL the Essentials; Stellar Rappers, Mad Dancing, and Stellar Vocalists. Hongjoong is their leader and he both writes lyrics for the group and raps. He is literally the shortest member but he makes up for it in Pure Sass. Spicy Little Gremlin Captain. ❤️ Mingi has a deep, unique voice and Killer raps. Jongho has the Insane vocal range although they have several members with Gorgeous vocals, Yunho, San, Seonghwa, Wooyoung, and Yeosang. They do come second to Stray Kids for me but it's a very close second. 😁👍❤️❤️❤️
