I think the difference between Mark and Jennifer's performances isn't a matter of quality, it's a matter of how they interpreted their lines and scenes - Mark plays Shepard as standing strong despite his injuries, weathering the storm, so to speak, whereas Jennifer plays her as cracking under the strain, just about holding together long enough to do what needs to be done. Both are equally impactful to me.

Whaaat no. Paragon lines are pretty similar for both but renegade? Maleshep sounds like he loves being a douchebag, makes it look fun. Femshep renegade is like a complete psychopath murdering everyone on her path. She makes it sound creepy and evil. Personally i prefer maleshep but it depends on what character youre roleplaying as. For example, remember that renegade interruption of "youre working too hard" when you electrify a merc to death? When maleshep says it its goofy almost, like its a joke. Femshep says it like she's a serial murderer who gets off on saying that before she brutally murders someone. So renegade mixed with paragon is maleshep all the way, 100% renegade run when you murder everyonr including your friends is femshep all the way.

Because of this, later, someone asked Troy Baker to read the letter he sent Shepard after Kai Leng beats him/her on Thessia in ME3. Troy agreed, but kept messing up causing Nolan North to continuously make fun of him as they were sitting next to each other. This might have been for a TLoU panel, I don't remember. It's on KZbin. I know this was posted about 5 years ago, but he will always be Ethan from Buffy The Vampire Slayer to me. As soon as we meet Zaeed in ME2 I quite literally said (to myself obviously) "Ethan, is that you? What tricks will you be pulling here then?" And then I was overjoyed that he became part of the team and I got to listen to his amazing voice. Completely agree with someone else in these comments who said they could've listened to him read anything. Definitely an honour to have on the Normandy Crew. Rest in peace.

Love Claudia Black's voice acting ability. She also plays some pretty awesome women, good, bad, crazy/psychotic, they're always badasses. Whether it's a small part in the Mass Effect series, as Matriarch Aethyta, or in Diablo 3 as Cydaea, or as BioWare's greatest written character of all, Morrigan, the Witch of the Wilds, in Dragon Age, Claudia Black's voice acting ability made them far more memorable had they been voiced by any other woman.

I find it amazing that voice actors playing more than one character can alter their voices so much to fit the two different characters. Best example of this is Claudia Black (for ME2/ME3). The differences between Matriarch Aethyta and Admiral Dar'Xen vas Moreh (even without the sound effect added into the latter) are astounding.

Those people who trash mark mere as the male shep don't know what they are talking about! He was terrific in the role. Both mark and Jennifer were great. These two actors pulled off the impossible. I've played both make shep and female shep countless times and to decide which is better is impossible if you are honest. They delivered two different games to the fans will exactly equal great performances. A feminine and a masculine view are different but equal. Fans shouldn't forget that beyond paragon and renegade feminine and masculine views were unavoidable views. They were terrific

Everyone has such nice voices. I especially like Shepard, Tali and Liara. I have remembered these voices for the rest of my life. Naturally, the other voices are also good, but for some reason I liked these 3 voices
