The thing that made this fight so emotional was that neither of the duo was blaming the other. Both of them were claming it was their fault that the quick failed and they thoughout they needed to be the part that need fixed. Kageyama thinks is was hes fault that set wasnt in th right place to get around the block. Hinata thinks he was hes fault that he wasnt able to aim around the block. They both said that they thougt the other was already doing exactly what they were suppose to. Their first fight at the begining of the season 1, the two thoghout the other was the problem, now they trust and rely on each other, that they both trying to shoulder the responsabilty of the lose.
@machanhernan2 жыл бұрын
When Hinata talks about fighting by himself he means not having to rely on Kageyama to be valuable for the team. Until now, although he has been improving, his technique is still lacking a lot and he was a regular from the beginning thanks to the quick he did with Kageyama. Seems like he was more or less happy with just being useful but now his frustration about his role depending completely on Kageyama and his greed to work on his own skills despite not being the best for the immediate future of the team are growing. Btw, love the outfit and your reaction as usual 😊❤️

It's also worth noting that Kageyama, Suga, and Ukai are all setters, so they're mostly speaking from that perspective. Tanaka and Hinata were on the same wavelength since their roles are mostly offensive. In other reactions I've seen, people shit on Ukai, totally forgetting that it's his first time coaching, and he's obviously still learning how to accommodate all of his players. They both have valid points. Hinata will need to develop individually at some point, and Kageyama was correct in focusing on what they have for now, since they don't have much time till the spring competition begins, since he wanted to commemorate the third year's final chance to compete in the nationals. I've seen this episode several times now because of the reactions, and that sequence never ceases to amaze me haha. It was very realistic and well-executed. 🤩

Congrats on your FIRST jersey. I'm also here collecting one from every team. I use it for the gym 😆 I think what Hinata said means he doesn't want to be completely dependent on the quick, hence on Kageyama, alone. I think you can say that he was pumped by Lev and wanted to do more for the team as a spiker/scorer. But yeah, Kageyama's points are important. Tensions like these are also normal in every team competition and are key to growth when faced with wisdom.
@RoaringTide2 жыл бұрын
I'd say Kageyama and Hinata both have sensible points. Kageyama is saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", especially with the next tournament creeping up. That makes sense, right? On the other hand, Hinata is saying "but I can see it beginning to break, so let's prevent that now". That thought was triggered by Lev immediately adapting to Hinata's attacks. He's saying that as they face stronger and stronger teams, that one single quick is unlikely to keep working. That ALSO makes sense. He wants to develop some versatility and have value outside of being Kageyama's specialised tool. Maybe that stems from a selfish desire to want to be on the court, but he's not wrong that developing different attacks will help against good opponents.

Nice uniform, Sugaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I love that image at the end, hinata standing on the top with that crow, looks so cool. This episode is amazing, showing the greed and tension. at 8:00, I think it's both teddy, hinata was too focused on the ball, not really trying to steal or anything, but from Asahi's and teams perspective, i guess they understand it was not intentional from hinata, but also they see that he is aiming for more, he wants more and I think that feeling of "I want more" just came into life. Everyone was thinking that in their minds but suddenly Hinata just brought that thought to life unintentionally and that put everyone on edge. This is what I got from what Daichi said after that collison and what Asahi feared.

Victoria Garrick(USC Libero) and other volleyball professionals(coaches, olympic players) + Haikyuu KZbin reactors have talked about that «slow motion» «clear view» of the other side whenever players are mid-air during a super-quick. They've called it «flow state». Apparently, it's also common in other sports. Also, moves like the pinpoint fast serve and mid-air kill, the super-quick, the "Zero Tempo", et cetera are an actual "thing" and are used and put into practice by top male and female teams worldwide. It's a surprisingly accurate sports anime and highly influential, as well.
@yookihyunsyoonbebe3372 жыл бұрын
The ones who confronted hinata are all setters, did u notice teddy? Kageyama, Suga and coach ukai(he's a setter too). Thats why they didnt understand the perspective of a spiker when hinata told he wanted to improve. The setters just want stability mainly kageyama and just telling hinata to stay put and spike what he sets. But i believe what hinata wants is the best option atm, because with this level karasuno has, or the level hinata can play, if they stay just the same where they lost to seijoh, they will still be losing in the upcoming tournaments
@isabellafiguerola74502 жыл бұрын
I felt so sad for Hinata, he’s basically only useful when he’s playing with Kags and he (Hinata) is not even able to choose and/or change their plays so that must’ve been frustrating but I completely understand Kageyama’s fear of destroying the team’s balance being so close to the Spring tournament
@skyefox2 жыл бұрын
This is one of those conflicts that is really stressful because neither side is wrong. Kageyama wants Hinata to focus on his other shortcomings and become a more well rounded player, while Hinata wants to take his one strength and hone it to the absolute limit.

It's not that it's wrong to try to be better. But as a player you can't try to take over a game, there are times to try to do it like a practice but in a match it's reckless because you affect the harmony of your team. You can't take a game personally or try things personally reasons, is about the team all the time. It's the first thing a coach tells you.

Another little detail that I love about this episode is when Kageyama, Sugawara, and Coach Ukai all couldn’t really understand Hinata’s point of view. This is because they were all setters at one point, so Suga and Ukai were seeing it from the same perspective as Kageyama. They didn’t know what Hinata felt as he saw past the blockers because setters almost never spike.

I did promise you that Hinata being pigeon-holed to one role would come into play. What I got from Hinata saying he wants to "compete by himself" is that AT THE MOMENT, he's a package deal with Kageyama. All his worth as a decoy and middle blocker revolves around the fact that only he's capable of doing the "weird quick". The conflict, at its core, comes from Hinata choosing to risk the team balance just to become "independent" on the court. So he doesn't need to depend on ONE person (Kageyama) and ONE attack (the weird quick). I think it's a REALLY interesting conflict between Hinata's long term want for improvement over the team's need for short term results.

Love the reactions Also for me this episode and the reaction of Karasuno setters (Kageyama, Suga, Ukai) to Hinatas wish shows how amazing of a setter Oikawa is. He is able to give each player what they need and make them play at 100% while Kageyama by kinda trying to follow Oilawa's steps is actually doing the opposite and holding Hinata back. I mean both sides have good arguments but if they don't evolve (individually as players and also as a team) they can't get far

Remember back in the Seijou's match, when Kageyama and Tsukishima were having a hard time syncing and Tsukishima said "I have my own way of doing things" (or something like that)? This is what Hinata meant when he said "I want to fight by myself". As he is now, Hinata doesn't have a way to do things, he has Kageyama's way. Hinata just jumps and then he swings his arm while Kageyama's the one who really decides where the ball goes and how the spike will turn out. As of now, Hinata, for all intents and purposes, is not a proper player, but a mere tool for Kageyama to use as he sees fit (Kageyama explicitly said that Hinata's will isn't needed). Hinata realized that and decided to be he's own player in that matter.

He may have felt that Hinata was saying that he wasn't enough, and that Hinata wouldn't need him anymore. He forgot that they're only on a HS team; Hinata HAS to be a better player on his own for the sake of his own future too. I also think that they would've understood each other better had Kageyama worded things differently. Him saying that Hinata isn't essential to winning is EXACTLY why Hinata wants to get better.

Hinata is the first to realise that the gap they have to bridge between them and their rivals (seijoh and shiratorizawa) can't simply be overcome by polishing their current skills. His assertiveness in trying to steal asahi play makes the rest of the team think about the gap they need to overcome in order to reach their goal of getting to nationals. Hinata could just improve on the little skills like passing and serving. However unless he does something about his signature move, he realises that doing so would just make him a bog standard volleyball player, with no reason to be a starting member. He realises he needs to be better than that in order to win a starting position. At the same time, the rest of the team start to realise that they may not be able to get to nationals just by being good at the basics.

He cant do impactful attacks without their freak quick, he cannot serve or receive well, he becomes a regular because he is the only one who can jump fast run fast enough for kageyama's tosses. It is not a wonder how hinata always thinks he is not enough and just wants to improve so he can be a regular on his own abilities. Kageyama being logic is right but that doesnt always mean it will give u a better result.

Hinata is right 100%. In volleyball, as in all sports I guess, you learn the foundamentals, and then if you constantly practice and stay focused on the mistakes you are doing, you'll eventually and gradually improve your foundamentals. Receiving, blocking, serving, spiking, defending, every player, including Hinata, is doing that every single training session. But of course the anime doesn't show this aspect, it shows what's more interesting, which is Karasuno trying to learn new things, because they know that the "old" things were not enough to win. And learning new skills always takes a lot of time and practice, but this is true for Hinata as it is for Kageyama and Azumane and everyone else. So, what makes sense for Hinata to learn? Right now, he has one problem: he is a decoy, which means he's supposed to score a lot of points, but he can't do that, because his best offensive option is not effective anymore. And he knows that. He could focus as much as he wanted on serving and receiving and blocking, but that wouldn't fix the main problem. Up until now, he relied on Kageyama to avoid blocks, and I'm sure Kageyama's first istinct is to think that it's his fault and not Hinata's. But it's not, or at least it's not his responsibility to toss to Hinata in a way that he can't be blocked. Not entirely. He needs to share that responsibility with Hinata. And yes it's risky and everything, but Hinata has to learn how to hit the ball looking at it, and decide where to spike.
@mten10th672 жыл бұрын
The thing some people fail to realize is that there are players on the bench who are better than Hinata. Him improving his blocking, serving, and receiving is important, but he still won't be better than the 2nd years that are on the bench. Hinata wants to be on the court and not be a liability for the team, which is why he wants to be able to hit the quick with his own ability. That would be something only he could do that would be a benefit for the team.

One thing about hinata and trying to make the quick better is that it's pretty selfish. After all, only kageyama and hinata could do the quick, and the quick is the only reason hinata is on the court as a starter. But instead of thinking, I could improve my overall game and really help the team that way, he's thinking I need to make sure I stay on the court so I'm only going to focus on this one thing only I could do. It's also not good for hinata in the long run as said, only one setter can do it, and his overall game is very lacking, so what happens when he no longer has that setter?

I saw hinata’s greed as reasonable. I used to play basketball, and my senior was the ace. Whenever, he performed as his best the whole team performed better. In this case, hinata’s quick is the engine for karasuno. If his quick doesn’t work, he has no value in team plus karasuno would just be a mediocre team. Plus, in last episode when tanaka’s sister told him about little giant as someone who had an aura of confidence also affected hinata as he is the idol for him.
@MrCeeJaym2 жыл бұрын
People always missinterpret the "I want to be strong enough to compete by myself" line.. What he means is that if the freak quick stops being effective against stronger opponents (remember, their goal is nationals), Hinata would NOT be a good enough player to earn a regular spot on the team. His situation is essentialy the same as cheating on a test, sure you'll get the benefits of good grades, but you wont learn/improve. Your performance will be tied to the person giving you the answers until you start making the effort yourself. Because at this point, Hinata just jumps where there's no blockers(Tie-in to example: Hiding his cheating/not being found out) and Kageyama giving him the ball exactly where he needs it(Tie-in: Basically giving Hinata all the answers, insentivising Hinata not to learn/study by himself). Sorry for any mistakes in spelling, not my first language, and yeah the example gives the situation a negative tone but i couldn't think of a better one rn.

If you think about it, everyone on karasuno can play because they are "good" they are aloud to be in the court because they have they own strength. Kageyana is good at setting, noya is a master on defense,Tanaka and hes power and mindset, but hinata is only playing because kageyama is there, if kageyama wasn't there he would be on the bench. i also love how kageyama sees hinata as his equal i guess imo, prolly why he kept on insisting that there's just something flawed with his godly quick sets or something. but if we separate the two of them, in the end...what would be hinata's contribution of strength to the team if he doesn't know the basics besides the running and being springy? what would be his worth without kageyama? and when he will and can stand on the court without relying to someone? it's alright to rely but if it's a lil hindrance to growth, how will a person be able to grow and move forward?
