Underhand serve is the first serve you learn when you start with volleyball. But it's also often used in beach volleyball (or in high-ceiling halls), exactly for the reason it's here - the light and the way it falls. I was really happy Furudate decided to include so many different kinds of techniques.

Well you learn an underhand serve, but it's absolutely nothing like a sky ball, like what this guy did (and as you said is used in Beach). They're hardly comparable.

It's nice how the pinch server's teammates didn't blame him for the first failed serve. instead they made jokes about it and deflected the blame into everyone (as one of them says “WE can't get anywhere if we don't get our serves in” 12:13) to not make the 1st year feel guilty. furudate is great at making every team feel like their own set of individuals with different dynamics. king of secondary characters lmao

i think this is a very underrated match in the series and the show actually got you caring about tsubakihara. furthermore their slogan is lit :D

These games like with Tsubakihara, Ohgi Minami, Tokonami, Kakugawa or even Johzenji may have ended in two sets but there are a lot to learn and did have great character developments even if you won't see these characters again.

That character, Himekawa, the Tsubakihara pinch server become fan favourite for this episode, when it was first released and make quite a name for himself eventhou he appearance is less than 5 minutes. He character bring one of my top favourite line in this anime "it not other that will not forgive you for your mistake. It yourself" such a relatable line I need to keep reminding myself.

When I used to play volleyball for fun, the underhanded serve was the only one I was any good at. It was nice seeing a pinch server shine for using that serve in particular. ^^

I call Atsumu, 'Tsumu, for a few reasons that I can't reveal yet. I was a late bloomer to overhand serves, so I had a pretty powerful underhand serve. Himekawa's went super high, but mine went very close to the net (this was before net-ins were allowed) and curved downward just past the 10ft. line. This is because my serving approach was to hold the ball far below my waist and come down and under the ball with my arm, hitting the ball with my wrist. I appreciate Furudate including an underhand serve in a match because a good underhand can surprise even the best team.

17:42 i saw someone point out that suga might've done a quick fake out here with his finger pointing out to the right to distract the opposite blockers for a moment since he ended up setting to tanaka who was in the left side. it's a really quick gesture tho.maybe it's not that apparent with the clear screen here. you'd have to search the crunchyroll clip in youtube to see it better. anyhow it's a nice detail to add from the production team

Me and my girlfriend also have a reactions channel and we got the same claim from Spy x Family after a few days. What I recommend is to cut it with the KZbin tool so the video reappears, and that you share an external link with the reaction without those cuts, as it was in the beginning.

The reason why they put in a pinch server is because the team isn't doing good in their serves so it's good that the team acknowledge this. It's not the fault of one person.

I love Himekawa, even though he's a minor character... he's so adorable and I felt so bad for him when he flubbed that first serve. (Though it brought back memories of Hinata nailing Kageyama in the head in the first season haha). I was so happy he got a few points, even though I'm always rooting for Karasuno.
