An interesting point: If you became invisible in the sense that all light perfectly bends around you such that observers only see what’s around and behind you, you yourself would be unable to see, because the light is bending around you and not reaching your eyes to give you information.

@@ishwantsingh955 But then you would be limited to the camera’s range, right? And if you brought the camera with you you’d have a camera hovering outside your invisible body. Not great for stealth purposes. The projection/feed screen would also have to be close to your face if you want to keep your invisible radius as small as possible.

When they finally invent invisibility cloaks, introverts are going to treat them like pajamas
@AfraidMonsters
@AfraidMonsters Ай бұрын
exactly this. I'd literally be invisible for 99.9% of my life. I'm introverted and also just... don't like myself. I want to hide from the world. Just be an observer. Avoid socialization, but observe them. etc. However, if invisibility is finally unlocked in a lab somewhere; there's no way it'd be released to the public. like... ever. too much potential for crime, avoiding laws, punishment, responsibilities, family, parents, school, running away, etc. the only way I could see it happening is if only if a hero released it when he wasn't supposed to. extremely unlikely. and even then, him being considered a hero would be mixed between society. idk. if invisibility became widespread and mainstream like how you suggested, heat vision goggles would also become widespread. as in, like everyone needs to wear them to avoid being robbed/bumping into ppl, etc.

Wow, what an intriguing story! It's fascinating how life sometimes brings unexpected connections, like this one. It makes you wonder about the little moments that could change the course of someone's journey. Do you think there's a hidden meaning behind the picture, or could it just be a coincidence? What would you do if you were in the billionaire’s shoes?

Invisibility has always been something I wish I could turn off and on. I've always wished for that and for invulnerability + immortality. I know all the bad response "immortality" gets but idc. I'd suffer through all the losses of people and pets and family. I want to help shape society into being better than it is now. And observe it. I can honestly say that I'd pick that. Maybe in my lifetime de-aging will happen, as articles have been saying. But I doubt it, unfortunately. Also about the "invisibility" I'm really glad they mentioned it near the end. because I watched that movie called the invisible man and I wondered - why don't scientists just make a suit like that? I guess the lag thing is true. but still... You'd be invisible for the most part in a place that doesn't have much movement.... :o so where is the suit?

Your claim is not any less exagerated than theirs. It just turned out that first soft limits are much closer that AI bros hoped or promised, and it is the same uphill battle as any other technological field. Each new step is exponentionally harder than the last. But AI is not "failing" and its not going anywhere. And for us, regular humans, its actually the worst. Not enough progress to reach out for utopia, more than enough for advanced survelliance, controlling public opinion or just to take down a bunch of jobs.
