This song is 50 years young.. The driving drum beat is Spot On ..as it was then.. Sly Stone was so far ahead of the times.. He was a classic Band Leader ... His arrangements were so full of energy .. Screaming guitars , killer vocals , super tight soul band.... The San Francisco Bay was so full of the best music in the world.. All Genre's....... we had it all..... music is the food in Life....

I was fortunate to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings 6 times. Santa Barbara and in LA a few days apart on tour with TTB were the last 2. Those of you that saw SJDK live know the power they put out. I'll go to see TTB every time they come to town even back to back nights like i did this year. But we all miss the power and emotion of Miss Jones !!!

Cymbals looking to levitate, legs askance to keep skirts in place, ties ruining embouchures, carefully coiffed hair spun & lifted, more than one hat glued/wired onto a performer's head yet still looking to break free, ... the hurricane seemed to focus the band on one of the best performances I can remember. RIP to those no longer on this Earth.
