Hey my friend 😊! Good job dude 👍, and great lesson, and I think that is so awesome, for you to be teaching kids music at school and giving them the love of music, because sports is not for everyone, and drawing isn't for everyone, so thank you very much for wanting to do that. thank you.

Also I think we talked before about you did study music on the piano, and you could read music, but you didn't take any lessons or anything for the bass guitar? I think that what I remember what we talked about awhile back, but I am asking if a person study's music even if it is just for the bass guitar, will that really give them a good ear for music? Better than people that just play by ear and cannot read? And if I can listen to some of these old songs on KZbin whilel playing my bass guitar with it , like old blues old rock old country old gospel, and I can pretty much tell if I am out of key, or in key, does that mean I do already have a good ear for music now? Cause some people say that if you don't learn to play by ear first, and you just go study music and learn to read music, you will never be able to play completely by ear!? You will be chain completely to your music stand!? But I do want to study music, and the bass guitar, but I do not want to be chained to my music stand, I want to be able to play completely by ear also!? I hope you can understand what I am trying to ask you okay, on how I wrote it, thank you so much.

Bass is my main instrument but I also went to college with the intention of becoming a music teacher, band director (changed my mind). So I have some skill on a variety of instruments to different degrees.

@@TedTalksBass okay thank you, but could you play completely by ear before you started your lessons and college degree, or was you just out and playing with other people to help get the ear for music, or anything like that, before you started lessons or college? thank you very much.

Oh yes. I didn’t even read music until my late 30s

@@TedTalksBass cool thank you so much, I want to take lessons and study music, but people tell I will never be able to have a ear for music if I do that, I need to play by ear completely first before I start music lessons, but I can pretty much hear that I am in the right key or note, or if I am not in right key or note, on old blues old rock and old country and old Gospel music, and after I play with the song on KZbin several times over I can find the right chord progression and then I can start here and the changes of how the notes flow in the song, but I'm talking old songs, so would you say that I do have a ear for music if I can do that?
