Ilham Al-Madfai - TEDxBaghdad 2018

Ilham Al-Madfai challenged what is traditional in the field of Arabic music, and came up with a new style of making songs which faced many objections at first but then it found its way to success. Alham Al-Madfai is an Iraqi guitarist, singer and composer. The first to introduce Arabic music with a mixture of Western and Eastern instruments without changing the origins of the song and it found its way the youth before the adults. Over the past 50 years, Alham Al-Madfai has moved from his hometown (Baghdad) to become an ambassador of Arabic music in his style to the world's most important stages such as the Royal Albert Hall in England, the Opera House Berlin and today Alham's most popular music, which called Alhamiat, attracts a large audience from all around the world. The songs of Alham Al-Madfai transferred the composition of Arabic music to another level of oriental jazz. The song "Khattar" was the beginning of a new journey that carries his beautiful style. By his special style he influenced a lot of generations in different times. Al-Ham Al-Madfai continues to perform his music with all the love and longing and memories which will not be forgotten over time.
