Oh my, I landed on this quite by accident, after a strange day struggling with the business of living and making a living, and the sometimes jarring discordance between the two. Now, unexpectedly, after listening to this, I find my imagination making the connections that will, possibly, allow me to thread a meaningful way forward. Thank you Mr Merwin.

I was in the audience on that day and was so honored to recently meet him a few weeks ago with Barry Lopez

That's so awesome. A few years ago, I typed up my favorite Merwin poem (Just This) and mailed it to him, along with a short little note about how much his work means to me. He signed it, mailed it back to me, and it's now one of my prized possessions. I'd much rather get the chance to meet him, though. :)

That is so awesome! :-) Good for you! W.S. Merwin is such an amazing poet and person. How do you know what address to use to send something to him? Thank you.

Sadly, so few of us are open to our imaginations :( There is little compassion in us as of 2020.

Forget the palms for now. If Anyone Can tell me what He's done for the Hawaiian People I'd like to know.

Spend a few moments seeking such out. And I ask, what have you accomplished for the people of Hawaii? And who would that be: the people of Hawaii? Merwin, has permanently protected over 17,000 acres of land throughout the state of Hawaii. You can start with that fact and work your way.

Kirby Michael "Wright" (who is wrong here)-- This was a person who gave a lot to the world. Apart from his poetry (awarded the Pulitzer TWO times-- the 1st time he had the committee give ALL the money to peaceful efforts to end the Viet Nam war) Merwin also dedicated more than 3 decades to Hawaii, it's environment which of course means the people--even the animals.. (I see you're of Hawaiian ancestry (and also a writer) definitely you know about Merwin AND about his work on behalf of the people of Hawaii; why ask this mean-spirited, rhetorical, question at his death?

I'm a Poet and he Refused to Blurb my Book, despite being the first to sweep all 3 poetry Awards @ my University. Not a generous man.

You're here again, spreading your resentful bile. Sorry Merwin refused to endorse your evident mediocrity of spirit. I'm sure it was with good reason lol
