This video is one of my favorites! Watch it again and again and get reminded of why we're here, why we're Librarians, why we love learning!

"the kids said they wanted to hear the sounds of the forest when approaching a shelf with the books about trees 9:20"...networking, collaboration, community, technology...this message actually gives me hope for the future. I will watch this again and then watch it again for sure! Why only 3,424 views? ahh...reality sets in...never underestimate the foolishness of the masses, who'd rather watch cats playing piano! (or worse)

We need quiet places, where we do not need to be bombarded with constant stimuli, more than ever. Why this crusade to take something that is not book oriented and call it a library? Why does everything have to be about collaboration or teamwork? I actively mourn the loss of libraries where I can be together with others in the same space, yet quietly learning by myself in my own way.

Libraries aren't "book oriented", libraries are about the sharing and dissemination of information in any format. And that includes talking, collaborating, and working together. If you want to sit in a silent place with no one interacting with you, just stay home and work from there.

boundary less interconnections are fine if library can do them, but still, my memorh of growing up in the 70s, when the local lubrary offers me a vista of new, wonerful, exciting experiences. deep human experiences, nothing like the distracting shallow information overload experience nowadays.
