The topic of minerals and mining is often told in one (very negative) dimension. Professor Daniel Franks is the Deputy Director (Research) at The University of Queensland’s Sustainable Minerals Institute, in Australia. Daniel's work on the interconnection between minerals, materials and sustainable development is internationally recognised, and shows that there is more to the story of mining than we typically see. Daniel dedicates his research to understanding the role of minerals in the reduction of poverty, and the social and environmental changes associated with mining. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Interesting. Mineral Security is important for peace security. Minerals access can be one of the causes of conflicts. That is why its good gouvernance should be a global concern.
