About this Talk (in Spanish)
Recently the mayor of Bogota said that "...a city in developed economies characterises iteself not by the number of poor people with access to an automobile, but by the number of rich people who use the public transportation system". In this talk Dr. Mario Silva, a Ecology Educator and hardcore user (with almost 90,000 use experiences) of the broken public transportation system of Guadalajara urges the TEDxZapopan audience not only to envision the kind of City they would like to life in, but also ask themselves what they are willing to sacrifice in order to make their vision come true.
After presenting pressing statistics about CO2 emissions, public spending, and the impact on our eco-system, Mario demonstrates some examples of positive change that is driven by members of our society and invites the audience to join the movement by questioning and adjusting their behaviour in order to make the city of their dreams come true.

About TEDxZapopan
The goal of TEDxZapopan is to connect the agents of change in our community and discuss the ideas and solutions of the most pressing challenges our society faces.
The focus of our second event was "The Power of Purpose". More than 20 change agents and representatives of different NGO´s from Guadalajara have shared their insights, experiences and ideas with the local community and inspired the collaboration to confront the major social issues we are facing (i.e. from environment, education, social integration up to the infinite possibilities of people with handicaps).
In the first edition of TEDxZapopan in March 2012 we have focused on "The Power of Passion". The objective to inspire people to discover their passions and provide them with the best practices on how combine their passion with their professional lives.
