"No, he doesn't want to be a writer, he is a writer". So true, I said exactly that to myself cos I wasn't letting anyone know I wanted to be a writer, that's definetly the spirit

honesty is saying what you have to say regardless of what the outcome might be. i'll live with that quote

For too long, Poetry has been put on a shelf up high for protection by elites who feared the defilement of its beauty and purity in the hands of the common man and woman. I'm pleased to see those elites have been proven stupid fools by this speaker and others like him. They have put the art of Poetry in the hands of the common and Poetry gains back the luster and shine we sometimes forget it had. Bless all efforts to encourage all to be the honest poet they can so the world is full of beautiful stories.

The way he talks i can't tell if he's telling a poem or just explaining something.

Slam poetry changes live. Two of my four children competed at BNV with coach Tama Brisbane. Spoken word and Mamma T. changed my son's lives. Both changed mine as well. At 42 Years of age I realized a writer lived inside me and wanted out. Call me crazy but I cried several times watching this. Thank you

This is really inspiring. I really respect what this guy and his team are doing and as a poet myself I truly believe poetry is one of, if not the most effective way of expressing thoughts and emotions that otherwise can remain bottled up and lead young down a negative path.

well I would say now it's rap rather than poetry. Pretty much the same, but easier

I'm so impressed by spoken word. It's an art I rlly envy. I mumble and trip over my words so much i want to be able to speak like that.

You can. Its simply telling yourself with conviction practicing and then applying your craft.

I think they turned the audience volume all the way down - it's really low in other ted talks from this event as well.
