Really love the last sentence, resilience is about you and me and the bonds that bring us together.

I'd like to see her source that supports there having been double the natural disasters in the past thirty years. The list of those disasters must be quite extensive.

Good talk. When you live in a populated area with busy people it can be difficult to get people to come together . There are homeless working people who can no longer afford their rent because of hugh yearly rent increases by greedy landlords. It has become a very sad country to live. They do not care if disabled or elderly people are evicted and with no rent controls in place it has become a nightmare. I'm almost 65 with most of my family gone and am not able to work fulltime. Life has become scarey. Now we are facing the threat of a 9.2 Cascadia earthquake in the future. Unlike Japan, the Pacific Northwest has still not retrofitted buildings and bridges to withstand earthquakes or landslides. But we have quite a few bilionaires and millionaires who live here. None of whom have stepped up to help out with any of the local social concerns here.

Mengubah paradigma lama pada masyarakat, mencegah lebih baik daripada mengobati. Pencegahan dan kesiapsiagaan harus terus dikuatkan, menuju masyarakat tangguh bencana.

Leopoldo Jesús Quijada Bellorin As impressive as that Sendai Bldg. Is... Japan also allowed the Fukashima plant to be built at that site, being fully aware.. and WARNED that, historically, past Tsunamis had reached far more inland than that. Those entrusted with public safety chose to ignore the safety of the general public. Those in power, unconscionabley, chose the mid-range mark rather than the high-range mark for a nuclear power plant site. Japan can not afford to lose ANY land to a long term nuclear disaster and yet... ignoring the many protests of its educated citizenry... big business / politics shoved this extremely ill advised project down their throats. Now the whole world is paying the price . This is what Unchecked power and GREED looks like, while the common man continues to suffer. In the end it is about individuals selling humanity out, while others, through ignorance, fear, and non-action allow corruption to take hold. This world COULD be heaven if greed and dishonest dealings were not tolerated. Sadly I do not see the human condition changing any time soon.
