The most musically ,versatile instrument created in modern times.A steel band with its assembly of various pans, when skilfully played can excell any orchestra in the range of sounds produced.Never a dull moment when any steel pan is played.

Amazing talent. BUT we have a marketing disconnect ... the audience can hear the music being prodiced but they cannot see the instrument as it is being played to produce the music. Trinis, we need to solve this. Put a mirror or camera overhead and project the image onto a large screen in the background. This way, the visual will be combined with the audio and the true talent will come screaming through. The hand coordination required to play the steeldrum is as complex as that required to play a guitar, keyboard or drum set.

I agree, especially for an educational focused program, it would have been much more appreciated if they had an overhead camera.

Thanks for your feedback! I do agree about the audience seeing the inside of the instrument as new audiences have no idea what my hands are doing! When doing educational workshops, I typically take the instrument off the stand and show it, explaining its construction. However, this was not that kind of presentation. When budget allows, I have a camera set up overhead and projected on a screen (check out my Strathmore and Kennedy Center performances).
