As a former ABA / BCBA I consider applying the skills of that line of work, but applying it to my own feelings as I experience them and then pose interventions, healthier coping mechanisms, and choice to myself. Basically in my head, there’s “me” that is the me that is alive and experiencing life and emotions that come with it and then there is the me that plays therapist and, to those emotions, goes “hey I’m sorry you feel that way, take a moment to consider which coping mechanisms you want to use to get through it.” It’s important to learn how to “think your way through your feelings” without letting those emotions hurt others. People are very bad these days with being emotionally irresponsible.

Well said. Emotional irresponsibility is rampant. I'm someone who directs the negative inward....which isnt great either but it's better than the outward damage of hurting others.

The way you control your speech speed and tone is quite amazing. I bet that took some practice, it looks beneficial with helping seem more controlled and stable, probably creates that effect in your mind as well, parallel to say playing ball in a new pair of shoes or the wife having her makeup and outfit perfectly how she wants. Some feeling of that effect.

Excellent video, very insightful, clear and concise. Your voice is extremely soothing as well. I played this before bed. The line about doctors prescribing mercury to pregnant woman made me cackle. I would like to become an expert in meta-cognition as well. Thank you for sharing Brendan.

I'm always thinking about why, how, and when to say my thought during a conversation. And, after someone else has shared their thoughts, I'll often ask from where those thoughts derived. It just occurred to me that since Nov. 2020, I've started seriously fine tuning my metacognition abilities. At first I thought my brain was simply crazy. And now I understand what I, and not it, was trying to do. And now more things around me make sense. Nice to be in a lit room. Double entendre included, free of charge. 😁😁

You said it brilliantly. It feels like being in the light finally after so long. The mind can be a dark prison if you let it trap you.

Good speech. This video talks about what is metacognition, why it's important and impact it has on our life. It would be better if shows how to practice it though. Seems metacognition is still primarily confined in academic circle, yet to have widespread cognition among the public. There's sparse resource and guides you can find on the Internet, except academic papers.

Explain the difference between meditation and metacognition
@Meta-Think
@Meta-Think Жыл бұрын
Meditation is metacognition. Metacognition is a broad brush term for both monitoring and controlling your own mental states, such as attentional control, emotional control, and reasoning. It can also involve meta-memory; the awareness of affective signals as to the success of knowledge. It's a big field. Meditation is active metacognitive skill-building, such as improving monitoring (mindfulness), or exercises for control focus or emotional control.

Haha yet you do make me laugh I did time in prison, so this is a helpful skill I had to learn to apply to fix my addiction and self-destructive behavior once I realized it was my dis agreement with my environment causing the self-destructive behavior. I have accessed my pineal and become anointed since reaching enlightenment I hope to teach this soon. Much love

Big issue with any kind of training. Some people can stay in training, while others cannot. The focus can’t be only on the individual level, since not all individuals are naturally capable of staying in training.
