Having trouble following traditional time management techniques? Hitesh Choudhary enlightens us on how modern time management is an unorthodox process. Instead of plain abstinence from distractions, or waking up early, one must utilize these distractions to one’s advantage. Time cannot be managed head on, one must manage the things that take up time instead. A technophile and a teacher by passion, Hitesh Choudhary believes in rendering quality tech-ed content through his online presence. Get ready to hear what the tech-savvy has in store for you. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

A foundational concept in getting something done is to say NO to a few other things. So, choose former and the latter things wisely. Thanks Hitesh on this amazing talk. "You cannot manage time" was an eye opener.

Hitesh, your video spoke to me. Can’t count how many things I’ve planned to accomplish on a given day and it never works. Just recently I had to press the restart button after two disappointments significant to my professional and educational trajectories. I’ll keep this in mind, I cannot manage time, only people. Appropriately manage people who need my time, then manage those who want my time. Finally, aim to accomplish two things on a given day, the rest will fall in place. Thanks again!

Great video and inspirational talk. I tried to list ideas in a summarized way: - Manage people not time (There are people who need your time and others who want your time) - You can only do two things in a day - Social media is unavoidable so master it (follow inspirational people) - Always underestimate your time - Reward yourself but be practical - It is okay to lose control (Restart and try again tomorrow) - Take one step at a time

Thank you so much sir....your ted talk was simple and easy just like how explain the things and when it seems easy for the people to implement the same in their LIFE....just like you said...."DO FEW THINGS BUT CONSISTENTLY" - seems very very easy but at the end of the month or year definitely we are not the same OLD ourself but we will be so much ahead.

I agree with not planning for the distant future on two bases: you are not guaranteed to have that future (you could die tomorrow, or even today), and because science has shown that we use a different part of our brain to plan the distant future than the near future (the former being unrealistic). That's why planning for the distant future doesn't work. However, saying that means it's okay to lose control is seriously swinging the pendulum too far the other way. It is certainly important to realize we can't control everything, but there are things that are within our control and it is never, _never_ okay to "lose control" of those things. Those things that should be in our control, should _always_ be in our control. People lose their lives because they lost control of their temper, their car, etc. Recognize those things that are not within your control and be okay with that. But those things that _should_ be in your control, do not be careless with them. Taking a careless approach to our time is not better than trying to take too much control. Incidentally, yes, you can get away from social media. Who wrote a law saying you have to connect with people on social media? Who said you can't still use phone calls, emails, and (GASP) in-person conversations? Really, too many people are addicted to social media. Saying that we can't get away from it is like telling an alcoholic that there's no hope of getting away from alcohol, so just go ahead and drink, but control your drinking. The vast majority of people are incapable of controlling social media because social media was intentionally designed to control people by manipulating their psychology.
