As someone from the global south, I agree with some things and disagree with most things. On the one hand, I do think that many people here had this white is better mentality that she mentioned. It is odd. On the other hand, I think people should be free to travel and film what they want. Where I think things go awry is when they treat it like a trip to the zoo. It goes all, "Wow! Look at these gnarly locals! They're so friendly! It's almost as if they're human too!" It makes a spectacle of people, which does not feel right. People do not have to be personally offended for something to have a collateral effect. I am open to the tourism, but not the dehumanisation.

I’m an African/Canadian heading to South Africa and this has me torn. You said to perhaps put the camera down and get to know people versus strictly documenting them. Good thought. I wonder if the locals will welcome me or shun me because of my colour.

Good but even in ghetto we use cameras too,our tourism is basically to help them get more platforms to in improve on their llifesytles,economically ,politically, socially etc it's called my beautiful ghetto experience
