Good advice for training a quality swing. Using a Tee is the way. Pitch selection is also key. If you get consistent swings at a consistent location, you recognize that pitch much easier. Good pitchers get you to swing at bad pitches.

Thanks for the comment Kevin, we definitely agree. I have started putting a couple of hundred swings a week off the tee and I have already started to see added consistency in my swing. I wish I would have dedicated time to this tool earlier in my career. Also, adjusting the hit and location of the tee is imperative to cover the entirety of the strike zone. Got any tips from your experience?

@@LeagueNightSoftball it took me a long time to adjust from hitting a baseball and then from major modified pitching. Hitting an arc softball well means having a different swing for different objectives. Using the tee allows you to focus on developing those swings. Fast pitch is generally at the same angle every time where arc varies. Good pitchers watch you and learn what areas you cant cover. Usually these areas are in front of you, where you need to break down in order to reach. I try to remember that if i cant get to the pitch above my waist im likely to collapse my front leg and the power evaporates. I like the idea of a still head, because a moving head means you arent rotating on that front hip and have collapsed or slid forward past your locked out leg, in order to reach a short pitch, or compensate for bad timing. No bueno...cheers

Interesting idea. We'll put it on the list!

I always am telling my guys not to over-swing. Makes a huge impact on contact IMO.

We can't agree more. Especially at lower levels, when players try swinging harder, mechanics go out the window. Practicing a hard, but controlled swing will result in long-term, consistent success. This might be Cam's favorite comment ever! ha

Could you guys do a video on swing mechanics or training when playing in ASA with the ridiculously high pitches? I'm a short dude at 5'8 and always have the tendency to tomahawk when the ball is super high and just drops in almost vertical. Thanks for the vids fellas.

Hello Lt. Dan. If you have or are currently serving, we thank you for your service! We can definitely line up some content for ASA pitching where the strikes can be as high as 12' at apex. Tee work isn't great at simulating the arc, you are better off using Live BP for that. We will add that to the list of topics to cover in the near future. Any other topics you would find helpful?

This is not helping bat speed and positioning. You’re already cheating hitting a inside pitch. 😂 Anyone who hits a normal inside pitch is gonna pull naturally If it’s setup in the middle of the plate then you would be practicing pulling Because a natural even swing takes it backup the middle Swing faster and snapping the wrist would pull it because you’re leading with the barrel facing 3rd instead of a even swing with the barrel facing middle It’s like practicing hitting backside and you putting the T on the outside corner… not hard it’s already there for you Once again if it’s in the middle of the plate but “deep” then you can practice having a closed face barrel A pitch right down the middle should go any where you want Inside and outside isn’t hard.. just timing and either flipping your wrist or not Pull flix it and turn barrel to 3rd Backside just swing On outside or inside pitches

You would be surprised how many lower level players take an outside pitch and try to pull it. These are introductory videos for players looking to take the beginning steps to formalizing their batting practice and tee use. We will be covering more advanced tee work videos where we will do things like take inside pitches backside, etc. Stay tuned for those!
