This is just the landscape, there's no interiors, at least shown in this video, let alone npcs, quests, combat... And project like these get shot down pretty quickly, because you can't legally use those assets outside of the original game, since they often include third party licensed assets, which means you would actually have to build it from scratch like the skyblivion or skywind projects. Or reverse engineer the engine like openmw, of course if you have a few decades of spare time.

My undertanding is that UE isnt optimized by default but can be optimized greatly by going through the steps, there are channels devoted to this, basically it comes down to turning off things that UE has turned on by default to help generalise game development so that people can get straight to making their game no matter what kind it is. the problem is when u make a specific type of game you should turn off all the features and plugins that your particular game isnt using but people dont bother to do that. Ue could definately implement some way to make this easier than having to do it all manually and basically learn the skill of optimization seperate to game creation skills, and maybe they have or are already working on it since its coming to light that unoptimized games are quite a drain, and when u look at them they dont even look like they should be draining so much compute coz they arnt bettter than like 2014 graphics, and it is a problem for consumers because they obviously have no control over what the devs choose to be lazy about. at the end of the day at this time with what is available it really comes down to the devs doing what they need to do to polish the final product because they could if they wanted to, its not actually Ue's fault they arnt doin that, Ue has made an awesome engine, free for everyone, with constant improvements and upgrades consistantly being added, theyve done a fantastic job, but yes on both sides more could be done for the consumers and since game devs dont seem to caare enough Ue could potentially try to make some improvements there but u cant say it all falls on them, that would just be a nice thing they could do for everyones sake.

SkyReal is what the game will be called. It will be the Skyrim Upgrade we want as well as a 3rd contender in the Oblivion Remake genera (Yes, game remakes are a genera now) where we already have Skyblivion and the official Oblivion Remaster. This version will be called Realblivion. SkyReal and Realblivion seeks to end all Skyrim and Oblivion remakes for the next 10 years at least. This is the nail in the coffin that will destroy Bethesda. Nothing to see here folks, all is according to plan.

so many people are freaking out that it would be unoptimized but especially with the tools added to UE5 by intrepid, legit its actually capable of being used to heavily REDUCE the weight thanks to some great optimization tools that cut down on the need for things like extra assets and textures and using better lighting models instead with things basically getting paintprushed on their textures into their geometry to not just make it LOOK like what you want it to but to make it ACTUALLY what you want because its not just basically wallpaper on foam style construction type shit. beyond this also remember, this is ONLY the map ported meaning nothing from the game is actually here with no systems especially are here. its literally just the actual playspace of the overworld open areas outside of the dungeons and cities.

the main missiing thing is the papyus interpreter for UE. Most peple awarnes are the media component but forget the more important logical part what makes a game . UE looks like state of the art, but there is nothing compaire able like a scripting engine which hat acces to every asset of the game during runtime. And this will be a very hard task to solve for a engine lke UE, becaus every thing has to be some how precombiled to get this look. This makes the engine very unflexible after producing a game ready stage.

I wouldn't care if Skyrim got ported over to UE5 infact I would welcome it as that would be cool AF. I would however want the Vanilla game to be untouched from the base game as it is now on the creation kit version as for me i'm not a hardcore player and if UE5 is mod friendly then it's easier to find modder's that want to make the game harder like survival mode and whatnot over finding modder's to make the game easier. Not saying there not out there, but it shows on nexus now that there's way more mods on there for difficulty over cheats and easy mode.

I love how people keep saying 'will Bethesda finally go over to Unreal Engine?' The answer is always no, and will always be no. Creation Engine is janky and old but its their engine, they know how to use it and can change and add things as they want. Yes Unreal Engine has a lot of stuff, but its still a third party engine. They dont want to have to pay for the royalties, they dont want to have to wait for other people to update their engines. They can update Creation whenever they want and add whatever they want. The remakes would be different, because they arent Bethesda, theyre a different studio making a remake FOR Bethesda. It's not Bethesda making it themselves.

Honestly I hope they stick to creation engine. Really good engine for modders and some of the tools can allow you to make some insane visuals. Take a look at like a mod list such as “LORERIM” and the visuals are better than any game I’ve seen so far in any unreal engine game. It’s actually really crazy and impressive that all that is possible with the creation engine!

@ It uses Enb and has incredible Complex Parralax textures. But even if it’s not a base Skyrim, it’s still incredible what the creation engine is capable of due to modding. I’ve never seen a game look as lush and beautiful as modded Skyrim. Been playing the hell out of LORERIM 3.0 update that just launched last night. I catch myself stopping to look at trees and even mud😅 it’s crazy how photorealistic it is

There’s a reason why Kunos Simulazioni is going back to an in-house engine for Assetto Corsa Evo from Unreal Engine. It's why Eagle Dynamics refused to switch over to Unreal for DCS World. It's why Bohemia Interactive stayed away from Unreal and rebuilt their engine. People pushing Unreal are people not working in the industry and they're easily brainwashed by the presentation that Epic Games puts out. Fans don't want to create their own engine so they live with the illusion that with Unreal, just maybe they could create a game. It's why studios who build their own engine just roll their eyes at people who, have never run a game studio, give "advice" for them to move over to Unreal. If you’ve never made a game in your life then take a backseat and stop telling a professional company to switch to Unreal. The Unreal Engine has always been a good engine but it's waaaaay overhyped. And we need competition to get innovation. People are complaining about Nvidia dominating the market with high prices, yet they want the game development market to consolidate to the Unreal engine. Not smart at all. As far as this mod goes, it’s a cool concept as a mod but shouldn’t be a basis for ending competition in the market by ditching Creation Engine 2. Media consumption does not equal media creation expert.

Thats funny considering that Halo is being made in unreal engine and slipspace is being tossed to the side. I dont think the hype is so much about the graphical presentation from unreal engine, but the fact that they are building a robust set of tools that even untrained people can use to achieve a semi-decent result, that are all in one program, along with a massive premade asset library. Because of these tools, you are right about people thinking they can make a game now that the barrier of entry is lower. I DO agree with you that asking devs to switch to unreal engine is beyond stupid. Years of work to port, years of work in the other engine thrown out of the window, etc...

@@netherialdreyrimani It's a great engine for simple 1st person shooters like Halo. But, complex things like racing simulation, flight simulation, complex military sims like ARMA and many others start showing how difficult it is to use Unreal. If a start up studio couldn't afford an engine design/programming team then it makes sense to use a ready built one. But, if they have a solid programming team then developing their own is better. I'd be super hyped if Unreal made another Unreal Tournament with it. At the least, out source it to a game studio. Still love playing those for some fast paced mindless relaxation from time to time.

A great idea and would be great if it happens. I`m seeing Bethesda doing there best to to close this down. How soon will the creator of this plugin be hired by Bethesda and this is no more. It is not in Bethesda`s financial interest to have this done by a private modder. This gets up and running and it`s good by to another remake of skyrim.

We need to stitch all of the maps together and create a seamless open world experience instead of going through a loading screen. Then upscaling all of the textures and models as well as the sounds and implementing actual seasonal weather instead of being showcased as a region locked weather (with the exception of sunny, cloudy and raining).
