I appreciate this show because, as a licensed Real Estate Agent in DC, MD, VA, things don't always work out as they do on some glorified shows. There is a lot of buyer education that many of us caring and knowledgeable agents will share with our clients and we get them prepared to become homeowners and engage in knowledgeable conversations with the loan originator(s). Sometimes a slight wait is required or just aggressively looking at homes and what is for the buyer will be for the buyer.

Looove the energy and compassion of the realtor. It seems so genuine, and she empowers her buyers vs just giving them information to close the deal.

This show is refreshing...I tried to start the process last year...but there just wasn't this type of conversation and interactions that this show provides.

I didn’t think that I would like this new show on OWN. However, I like it and look forward to the weekly episodes. First Time Buyer’s Club is peaceful and joyous, as opposed to the other reality shows on OWN, where there’s constant drama. This show is good! 👍🏽👩🏽🦱🇺🇸

They dodged a bullet with that duplex. They couldn’t even see the other side. Those sellers are probably selling that house because they can’t get rid of the tenant .

I enjoyed this episode, however, wish it was more realistic. An approval of $400k is cool, but they should be looking for homes half of that approval. That approval does not take into consideration of utilities, insurance, every day living expenses. I really hope they find a great starter home and understand you don’t have to get your dream home on the first try.

I think the missing context here is what constitutes a “starter home.” Starter homes in Tampa Bay are now 350-400K. There is hardly any inventory under 350K and that’s what the show is giving us perspective on. So they can’t look for homes half the price because there aren’t any . Also the lower price you go, the lower quality home so you have to find a home that’s worth the investment and often a slightly higher price is what is needed to get a quality home that won’t be a money dump . She helping them get a starter home in Tampal. Maybe in middle of nowhere you can get half the price but not there. That’s like if they were in LA and you and you want them to get a home that’s 300K. It doesn’t exist. Also you have to remember these buyers are all paying Tampa bay rent which is typically higher than if they were paying for a 250K house so it’s not like they don’t already have an idea of what they can afford monthly . They’re already paying it! The programs that she’s educating them on is raising their purchasing power because of the lower interest rate so it’s a win-win. Better house for less money. You gotta really pay close attention to this show to get the full perspective and you have to remember where it takes place. These are not dream homes these ARE starter homes - the price shock you’re realizing now is what all first time homebuyers in hot markets experience…it doesn’t get more realistic than that. Finding homes half price would be a miracle and unrealistic . It’s not possible.

It would have been nice to see the agent acknowledge her feelings. Her client was clearly emotional. All she could ask is “You’re able to pay $2K”. Cringe 🥶
@mcbailey744611 ай бұрын
I think editing may explain why it seemed that way. But I didn’t find it cringe at all. If $2k is keeping them from getting a better rate and qualifying for programs that can help them and they have the money to pay it then why beat around the bush instead of being straight up with her. Her partner is there to “acknowledge” her feelings.
