Colonization has a large part to play in whakaiti-tanga to the point of self loathing. We need to acknowledge that and stop being so fucking modest. Start celebrating us and tell everyone else to get fucked.

I think Maori singers have had a pretty strong history in the New Zealand music industry, so I don't think there has been a lack of role models for young aspiring Maori musicians. I am a pakeha, and I think sprinkling ashes on a stage is just really weird and gross. One thing, try to let him finish his answers.
