In fact, a judge, in a court, ruled that the MAGA insignia on the hat, might be a safety issue for the students. That would indicate that the issue wasn't the hat but what was said on that hat. Rome Mateo I live in an area that’s kinda split so I actually see it happening to both sides. Two schools in my county banned pride flags, but students can wear maga hats whenever they want. One school bans anything election related, but you can wear pride flags. One school specifically bans trump and Hillary, but Obama is ok. It really just depends on the school and what will affect the learning in that space. If this school found that the maga hat was causing a distraction but nothing else was, then they are well within their rights to ban only it.

I’ve worn my MAGA hat everyday since Donald was sworn in and became President, and I’ve only had four major incidents. A lady with small children tried to run me over in a Walmart parking lot, that was the first incident. A guy punched me in the face walking down Main Street one day (that was the second). Somebody took a shot at my car from their apartment window just after I hopped in it (that was the third time) and just last week a guy in a restaurant dumped a plate of food over my head and hat. This is over two years so that’s not too bad. Thank goodness we live in a tolerant country! Imagine what they would do to us in some countries where they throw gay people off roofs etc. You gotta love America.

The same sort of thing happened in Morgan Hill’s Live Oak HS a few years back when 4 students decided to wear American flag attire to school on May 5th The school admin cited the protection for those students as their justification for telling the students to either turn their clothing inside out OR leave campus. Here’s the bottom line for we conservatives...we live in the US, however anything that you say, do, think that supports you patriotism to this great country is going to be considered RACIST by those with opposing views. There is no such thing as civil discussion of opposing beliefs Anything that is anti-American, anti-police, anti-government, pro-criminal is going to be the only topic allowed under the 1st Amendment.

If they have a standard at the school about logo/word clothing (hats or otherwise) needing to either show the school name, or an organization associated with the school, then I can understand them not allowing it. As long as the school would also do the same for Bernie Sanders clothing, or any other political merchandise. I can understand a school not allowing political message clothing, as long as the rule is content neutral, and applies to all ideologies. Same with pro-sports clothing, although I don't see why a school wouldn't allow that. It seems like the wrong message to send to students, because in schools I attended, they wanted you to grow up to be a concerned citizen and exercise your right to express your opinion. Clothing I'd expect to be banned in schools, would be clothing with cusswords, clothing that advertises drugs/alcohol/tobacco/anything else not age appropriate, or clothing that features pictures of people in violation of the dress code (look up shirtgate for an example).
