It can be perceived as disrespectful if one considers that often each student is expected to wait their turn and to be present for those receiving their diplomas after them just as those in front of her waited for her. You lose an element of the ceremony and the impression of a "unified" class if people just peel away one by one. Not a great look for the people at the end of the queue to receive their diplomas. One graduates both as an individual and as part of a class. In my view, the action was selfish, but if it didn't bother her classmates and faculty/admins, we can all just move on. First world problems.

When my daughter attended a graduation rehearsal for her high school, one of the students who had the highest GPA and was very overweight was heckled and called names by the students. Not one teacher or staff member tried to stop them. My daughter refused to attend her graduation in protest as she did not consider herself part of what transpired. @anon77512 жыл бұрын
She literally did what most of the students probably wanted to do also. I remember wanting to walk out so badly but I sitting on the stage because I was in the school choir and we sang for the graduation. If it weren't for that and for my mom, I probably wouldn't have even paid for my stupid HS graduation.
@marieamelieforrer4722 жыл бұрын
Excuse my ignorance but you have to PAY for this ? What do you pay ? I am curious
@anon77512 жыл бұрын
@@marieamelieforrer472 Yep. I'm not sure about every HS but at mine we only got 2 tickets per family so you have to pay if you need more tickets, you had to pay for your cap and gown, any cords/badges/etc you were gonna wear and your seat at the graduation (because for some reason they had limited seats for students which made no damn sense). They also didn't tell us what the plans for graduation were until last minute- which was 2 weeks after the school year ended. We only had one rehearsal and everything was done half-assed. Pretty much ruined the whole experience for everyone and most people only went for their families. We weren't allowed to walk out but most of us were just sitting there waiting for our administrators to hurry their stupid speeches about pretending to have cared about us. Then when they did call our names like 3 hours in, they pronounced half of the poc student's names wrong (including mine) and all we got was a blank piece of paper. Afterwards we had to go to our assigned rooms (based on last name) where we would receive our actual diploma. Which further ruined the experience cause we basically sat through all that just to have to go somewhere else to get our real diploma instead of at our actual graduation. Once it was all, everyone quickly hugged, traded phone numbers or whatever with their friends and headed the hell out of there.

there is more to this than beating the line at Applebee's. no one has to attend the ceremony, you can skip it and just pick up your diploma later. she wanted the attention? or is very self centered? I find it hard to believe that she just wanted to beat everyone to Applebee's.
@MudlangenTango2 жыл бұрын
@@anon7751 we disagree then, and this illustrates the difference between us. I consider it rude, selfish, and lacking in manners. She was part of a ceremony involving others, these rituals and ceremonies tie and bind us as a society. I for one, would not consider hiring her as she puts herself over the needs of other's.
@anon77512 жыл бұрын
@@MudlangenTango Let's hope you're not in charge of hiring anyone then. If something like someone *quietly and calmly* receiving *their* diploma at their graduation is reason enough to not hire them for a job that has nothing to with that, then it seems like you have an... odd way of thinking. But I'm sure a jobplace would put a more qualified, mature person in charge of hiring potential workers haha. Wouldn't want someone who I'm sure would probably blow a casket over an employee putting in their two weeks or something lmao. Y'know for breaking the bond of society or something.

HS made me fear college. Any mistake I made, seemed like the most world-shattering and life-ruining. They told me that some behavior wouldn’t be accepted, like leaving class without permission. I hate it when people ask for more probably the closest food outlet near the school, and maybe they were having promotions or smth

christopher rodgers It is not her graduation. No one said oh So and so is graduating let's throw her a ceremony. It is the graduating classes ceremony and she is rude.

Fine...but it works both ways. A doctor can cancel her upcoming appointment. A potential employer can cancel a job interview. A principal can cancel a conference with her about her child. It's their time--they can do what they want, right? Who cares if she took time from work or canceled other obligations?

"old people feel like they can tell us young folks what to do" Um...if they gave birth to you, yes. If they give you a class assignment, yes. If they pay you to do a job, yes.

SuperJayXD, people in high schools can be quite toxic just as in everywhere else. don't judge if you're not there to see, bcs the same happened to me. great minds would rather be alone than deal with fakers and low quality people.

A high school graduation ceremony is pointless anyways. The only thing you get from finishing 4 years of work is a diploma. Send me my diploma in the mail, thanks

Crazy thing is I think sometimes they don't even give you your real diploma anyway during the ceremony. They mail it to you anyways or you have to pick it up or something. Depends on the school.

Her “epic exit”??? She just walked out? Stop making a big deal of this. We had kids do this too. Yes multiple kids. And we had a graduating class of like 60. High school graduation not that big a deal. All these adults need to relax. Embarrassing
