Grooming definitely happens not only to the victim, but to the victim’s family and the whole community. Unfortunately this happened to my daughter, but many in the community still don’t believe the abuser did anything, because they had been manipulated and groomed so well. This is so heartbreaking-and really hit home for me since it is similar to our case, except, thank God, my daughter is still alive.

Not true. October 11th the dogs reacted!!! Look at Fox 59's report. Court documents reveal that police searched Scott’s property with cadaver dogs on Oct. 11, with the dogs giving a positive indication of the presence of human remains within a pond on Scott’s property. However, a search of the pond didn’t uncover any remains. LE then ordered a flyover of the property as investigators attempted to zero in on the possible reason the cadaver dogs indicated possible human remains on Oct. 11.

Yeah age of consent being 16 and even 14 in some cases is flat out wrong. Consent should be 18 in every state. And even 18 feels so young, as a 40 year old an 18 yr old looks like a baby to me so even that makes me feel weird but I get it, at 18 you're an adult.

U do have to keep an eye on adults friendly with your kid's especially ones that take them out to places. No adult male wants to regularly hang out with or take kid's/ teenagers out on their own. Happened to my friend's daughter but she thought I was being stupid when I said same thing to her. Happened a few times to me & probably millions of others. I wonder if the murderer had a helper at work before the girl came along.

It is so hard to get teenage girls to understand that men don’t want to be their friend if they are hanger-oners like he was. As the mother of two girls, you have to pick your battles, and I know her mother is going over everything in her head constantly. Thank you SO much for this video. This case has been so hard for the area, Rushville, and the neighbor towns. I live in Shelbyville, this guy has been to the grocery store where I work. He did some work with a company my dad and I hired around the time this poor girl went missing. There were several times they could have held Patrick, but they didn't. His family has been on pages trying to tell everyone to stop talking about him. HELL NO. He did it, and we have a right to talk about it and post his face everywhere. Deal with the fact that your family member is a killer. Valerie's family and friends have to deal with the fact that she's gone forever

When I was a kid living in a small, "safe" community, my Mom would have never thought twice about my friend's father or grandfather offering me a summer job, or to go to the aquarium or something; it would just be assumed that my friend who is my age would be there. 😢 My heart breaks at how badly families and friends of the victims like Valerie's are completely broken and devastated after times like these. Also thinking you never know what darkness could lie beneath the people around you. I remember when I was younger hearing that most murders and serial killers have 3 first names and here's another one! Throughout my years I've seen that to be true. He will plead not guilty and blame her for coming after him. This will be a total victim blame trial. He seems cruel enough to put her family through that.

He is already blaming her. He said he was fearful she was going to seduce him into buying her a car. Plus he mentioned fear of her blackmailing him, then said no she has no reason to blackmailing. I think he screwed up because LE then questioned about what would she have against him to blackmailing him. She may have been pregnant by him.

@@Trendyviews. I agree with you. He would be foolish to take this to trial. As former LE myself I’m very proud of the effort they put in to solving this case. I could see him in the end plead guilty for a lesser sentence. I don’t know if Indiana has DP but this case cries out for it. Hopefully no plea deal for him.

This is where I have a problem. The only thing I can think is they believed his line of 💩 about her running away. It's seems so often agencies don't want to, or don't know how to, put in the work. How often have we heard cases where they say "she will be home soon...she ran away" only to turn up deceased. 😢
