1. Your editing is masterful. Thank you! 2. Clerk of the court is an elected position, and that is why she is still working. I think only the Attorney General can suspend her -- but that may be premature as an ethics committee is currently investigating her conduct. Her career is over, but it may take some time to get her out due to the fact she was elected to this position. There is no reason for a clerk of court to EVER speak with a juror. The bailiff takes care of the jurors, not the clerk. Maybe in small towns where everyone knows each other things are more informal to the point of this nonsense? I think the international attention to this case overwhelmed everyone in Colleton county.

I've prayed from start to finish of the murdaugh trial.. I believe and trust murdaugh is exactly where he belongs.. Whatever Becky did or didn't do is a separate issue..has nothing to do with his being found guilty of the killing of his wife n son.. It is a horror to me how much attention and effort is afforded criminals under the guise of justice..he got what he earned... justice served
@19thnervousbreakdown80
@19thnervousbreakdown80 6 ай бұрын
You're right about him probably. But if you think justice is served if it was rigged by the clerk then you have major problems and need to pray about something other than a trial.

I agree with the judge’s verdict because there was not clear & convincing evidence that the verdict was affected by BH’s misconduct. If she allowed there to be a new trial nearly a year after the verdict on ambivalent information then the entire justice system could be destabilized by jurors being subject to harassment and intimidation to “change” their mind months after a verdict was rendered.

28:40 "have you communicated with jurors?" She answers, "I have NOT communicated with jurors about ANYTHING related to this trial... At all" then she makes a telltale expression. Her body language as she says, "at all" 28:47 looks, IMO, like duping delight and it's not congruent with her baseline body language when she's answering questions honestly. Additionally, at 28:49 she does a huge blink/eye block while she's looking down as if to avoid eye contact while she wrestles these lies out of her mouth. She uses that qualifier-"at all" which is indicative of someone being dishonest. It'd be like saying, "I swear to god!" or "I promise!" What a shit show.

My opinion is that the Clerk and others feel and behave too comfortable on their job. Moreso than being professional at it. And that she definitely talked to co-workers about the case in close proximity to several jurors. And that even the jurors were very lax in their own protocol and in following the rules. Too cool Gee; that you follow and mention The Behavior Panel!! I'd definitely love to know their assessment of the Fame-Hungry Clerk.

The outcome guarantees the maximum benefit. No matter how this judge ruled, the decision would be appealed. Here, the judge packaged the decision for the appeals court to address the complex and unsettled law that forms the basis of the dispute. I would be surprised if the defendant doesn't get a new trial in the end. However, we might as well settle and set precedent along the way. It's not like the defendant is going anywhere for the next 20 years or so. If his liberty was really at stake, I may have a different opinion, as it is I look forward to the next 4 or so trials. It actually was very educational, and all parties performed well. I was critical of the judge at first, but her cross of Becky Hill was great. Also, as a retired judge, I don't think she wanted to get mired in the Murdaugh saga and decided to kick it up to a higher court and get some benefits for the judicial system in the process. None of that could have happened, had a retrial been ordered after juror z's testimony...
