Little Bro, that was an absolute great reaction. It brought a flood of memories to my head thinking of hearing it myself as a youngster in the early 80's. Far to many folks who have never heard Iron Maiden think of them as being nothing more then just a hard and heavy group that makes loud noise. In actuality they are probably the greatest storytellers of all time and their music is like the amusement park ride that takes you through the story in a metaphysical form. You can thank them for leading me here and subscribing to your channel!

@@arminstojcsics6004 when they played it live, tour after tour, the tempo got faster, Adrian himself quit partly because of that, they (Maiden) just played songs faster and faster live, they lost the cadence...Hallowed is a dirge, a dirge needs to sound like it should be faster, but it drags on, hence, dirge

The Number Of The Beast was released in 1982. It was their 3rd album and 1st with Bruce Dickinson on vocals. I was introduced to Iron Maiden in 1984 when I was 9, by this album and specifically the song Run To The Hills. I've been a fan since. I have every studio and live album of theirs and some compilations. Been fortunate to see them 5X's. Number Of The Beast is a great album to start with.

When someone who's used to classic rock dips their toes into heavy metal for the first time, I always recommend Iron Maiden or Judas Priest. Good melodies, catchy rhythms, great vocalists and just great overall gateway bands. Maiden has several solid albums, but my top 3 are Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, and Piece of Mind.

They have a song called Rime Of The Ancient Mariner which is based on a poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. You should check it out. Maybe start with the first album, called Iron Maiden for an album reaction and work your way through at least the first 5 albums. They are all great. Original singer was Paul DiAnno. Number Of The Beast is my favorite but all of the first 5 are great imo. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner is on the 5th album, called Powerslave.

Maiden have been one of my favourite bands for maybe 25 years now. Absolutely incredible live, even today. Albums to check out: Number of the Beast #3 Seventh Son of a Seventh Son #7 Somewhere in Time #6 Powerslave #5 All the above are at the peak of the "classic" lineup (after Bruce joined, and before things started to go sour). That might sound unfair to Piece of Mind #4 - it's still a great album, just my least favourite from that period. Then after Bruce came back ("Modern Maiden", if you like): Brave New World #12 The Book of Souls #16 But ask another fan and you'll get a pretty different list ;) (Especially outisde the glory years of Number of the Beast through to Seventh Son, which are pretty universally acclaimed).

They were a five piece until the late 90s. Adrian Smith left for a bit, Janick Gers replaced him. When he came back they kept all three guitarists. Their first two albums had another vocalist named Paul Di'Anno who had a grittier type voice. "Number Of The Beast" "Piece Of Mind" and "Powerslave" were very popular. "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" is good too. Their first two albums are their own kind of awesome with Di'Anno on vocals.

iron maiden as 2 "most popular" album "number of the beast" that is the most "classical" of their album and "fear of th dark" that was the album of the "change"! Next like said someone before me many of maiden songs are linked to history like "run to the hill" on the america "war" against america indians or "acces hight" that is linked to a warplane pilot (english) from the world war but this song is a little diferent it's the story of a guy on death row that is questioning why he had to die like with the sentence "when the priest came to gave me the last rite" or "if there is a god why did he let's me go?"!

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Iron Maiden. Always have the lyrics pulled up so you can read along as you listen. Their catalog is huge, starting in the 1970's and they are still releasing albums even now. There are literally to many great songs to list. You could review Iron Maiden songs quite literally every day and not run out for a very long time. They did not tour in the U.S. in the 1970's but I have seen them in concert in every decade since, including last summer. Chris

Silas I just remembered something about guitar bands in general and I remember commenting at some point you definitely to check out more Lynyrd Skynyrd, there is so much of it. And this in turn reminds me of Alice Cooper which was before metal that like hard rock in the early 70s and he's got some really famous hit but my favorite album of his and there are several favorite albums by the way, but it is Love It To Death. Everything on that album is fire. Hollywood be thy name is one of the songs, but apart from tackling the whole album which you may not want to do, check out a couple of the big hits from it but my favorite of all is called, long way to go. It was featured in the movie soundtrack to the world according to GARP where he is driving the babysitter home in his car in his station wagon actually, and he has it on classical jazz or something like that and she keeps reaching over and changing the station to a rock station which is playing this Alice Cooper song, long way to go. And after they fight over for a bit he decides to leave it on and then they Crank It Up really really loud it's a fantastic scene. But at any rate, and I know you would love it, it's just guitar-driven but also his voice is amazing and the band is super incredible, and the message of the song is great, everything about it and it even has his kind of more funky Hardrock part later in it. Although the whole song isn't really long at all. In fact I wish it were three times as long as that's how much I like it.
