Yaay! Keep the Zeppelin albums going!! I'm too old to Trick Or Treat! Read the lyrics...there's a story to this! This Royal Orleans was a hotel they stayed at a lot in New Orleans!

I LOVE.. LAMP! Royal Orleans is the name of the really nice 5 Star Hotel in New Orleans. The rhythm is very much a tribute to the jazz style of the marching bands one might see parading down Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. It’s got a nice “strut” to it going on, and always makes me feel like I’m partying in a 3 piece suit. But I still love lamp!!

Hey Silas, this song is about an “incident” involving John Paul Jones in New Orleans…he thought he had brought a woman back to his hotel but it was a guy in drag…hence Plant singing “whiskers” haha

Glad to see someone posted this and Silas saw it. unrelated but always assumed the funky shuffling rhythms had something to do with New Orleans music inspiration too.

Hey, you’re hitting some hard stuff very throughly. Kudos for that. I’m the Old School so I know. RUSH is in your future. Another mind popping excellent band. I’m sure you’ve heard the name by now. They are on par with the monster classic bands you’ve already covered. I have to give you credit for going through more of a bands catalog than most reactors. These bands require that. You have to hear ALL their stuff to gain any real respect from us Old Schoolers. I know people will differ, but it’s true. It’s just that they are that good anyway. All their stuff has to be heard at least once. RUSH will kick your ass! I guarantee this. Millions agree with this. World Famous for decades and deservingly so. Lamp dude! One of the very best bands to ever do it! YES is waiting for you too. I’ll check back later.

@@ZosoLU, of course I can. I did. Just not on YT. I guess that’s what you meant. In that case, no. I agree! I was in high school and drinking and smoking on purpose to listen at top volume. ( I had to wait for the tours)

I wasn't paying attention to Led Zeppelin at the time Presence was released. It was a few years later I first heard it, and I loved it. By that time I had listened to a lot of the old blues guys so I had a better understanding of the roots Led Zep had based their earlier music on. Lamp? Seriously? Lamp?

This was one of Zep's earliest forays into Disco. The odd time signature injured more than one dancer.
@f.murphy83402 жыл бұрын
There is a huge difference between this, which is Funk, and Disco, whatever the heck you think that is. And if this is an "early foray" please list a few more. "The Crunge"? They literally reference James Brown, Godfather of Soul, and progenitor of Funk, "I'm just trying to find the Bridge." Disco was all about rhythmic time signatures - that is why people could dance to it...lampin...

I couldn't care less what you actually react to from the 60's, 70's, even 80's... If you've really never heard what so many of us got to grow up with, you're gonna love it all.... Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix of course are two of the guitar gods but there is also much much more... When you get past some of the Zeppeline (take your time) ramble your way on down to ZZ Top... Wander off into the Blues, which is where a LOT of this music was influenced by. Just like most of the old guy comments on here... Love watching someone your age find, and enjoy music before it was auto tuned and corporatized to death... Enjoy...
