Breeze is definitely my favorite Skynyrd song, and it's all about that piano solo, which is just filthy.

Love Skynyrds cover of the great JJ Cale song Call me the Breeze. Southern rock at it's best.

Oh yeah and Billy Powell on the piano is just so amazing. I can play that part but it's hard to play it as well as he does and also I would really have to brush up on it just a little bit but it wouldn't take me about 30 minutes of working at it to be ready to play it in a band in a live situation, which I have before. In fact I've played They call me the Breeze live a number of times and whenever you start the song, this huge cheer goes up and then everybody just starts rocking out and dancing their asses off to it. This is a barnburner, it really is.

That was a Wah pedal on that middle guitar solo and it's done so masterfully, just so much attention to detail and yet he could do it in his sleep.

I know I'm a day late with this comment, but you have just reacted to my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song: Call Me The Breeze. Glad you enjoyed it so much! I know Sweet Home Alabama is their most-recognized song, but Call Me The Breeze just has that rockin' partyin' tune to it dialed up to 11.

Needle and the Spoon is a big anti-drug song, and it’s written from their personal experiences.

And he describes specific scenes while being kind of general in a poetic sense. In that one verse, it could be in an airport, it could be at a train terminal it could be at a bus terminal, and a guy has met his end with this, and someone can clearly see that he's in pain and ask him what's wrong, and he said it was the needle and the spoon, and the trip to the moon, it took me away. It's heartbreaking for anyone that knows anybody suffering like that.❤ But for what it's worth, regardless of the specifics, They Call Me the breeze, which is a cover of a JJ Cale song, but the Lynyrd Skynyrd song here, it's basically an anthem to a whole section of culture. It's hard to describe how much it means.

Those 3 songs you allude to at the end are bonus tracks that weren’t included on the original pressing of this album. They were later added

Call Me The Breeze cover by Lynyrd Skynyrd is my all-time favourite song of theirs. It is immense fun and a rocking, dancing groove to die for! I thought, how is Silas' ass still in the chair? And then you leapt up! How could you not? I love every thing about this song, but the highlight for me is Billy Powell's solo. I'm a guitar guy, so for a piano solo to be the main event in a rock song, it has to be stellar!

Watch this song from Old Grey Whistle Test in 1975. Great visual of the solos by Gary Rossington on guitar and Billy Powell on piano on that particular video. You’ll love it.

Billy powel was a classical trained piano player who was a roadie for the band .they had no idea he could play like that until they heard him playing after a show ... they fired him as a roadie and asked him to join the band ... for my money he is the best boggie piano player ever

Hard to believe such great guitarists (three of them!!!) could coalesce in one band! And they changed the roster too! And then Billy Powell's piano virtuosity on top of it all. This song is from the great JJ Cale, who passed away 10 years ago. Skynyrd did it justice! 🎸🎸🎸😎👌

Oh yeah and they have a few other songs like this that warned of the dangers of addiction, but The Needle and the Spoon is a classic. I can't tell you how many times I've heard this on the jukebox at places for on the radio and for some reason it is a big fan favorite.

Great album and great band but you have to listen to the live version of this on the "One More From the Road" album. They are so much more powerful live than studio. I promise you will be blown away when you hear them live.

As I recall, the single version isn't much different than the album version, so I don't really see any reason to do that other than just every Lynyrd Skynyrd song No matter how many times you hear it just grows on you more and more, laugh. But I would 100% absolutely do Was I Right or Wrong?

N & S was heavily influenced by Cream. The guitar solo has Gary using the wha wha pedal basically just up & down but very effectively. That solo you’re enjoying so much on Breeze is Gary again & he did that effortlessly live as well. Then there’s Billy Powell’s piano solo that just smokes & he keeps it rolling thru the horn section too. You want piano? Check out Billy on their live version of “T For Texas”.

I don't care for the single version of Questions. You should go back and do their first album too. Pronounced. All their albums are top notch I was there when it happened. Saw the original lineup several times as well as the later incarnations. They were MAGIC. I cried my eyes out when the plane event down. Never really got over it. My CB handle was Mr Breeze throughout the 70s.

Absolutely, I totally agree. I loved everything off that first and last compilation it came out not long before the crash. I think those songs were from their Muscle Shoals sessions and there are some real gems in there, including this one. White Dove is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. Down South Jukin' is just amazing. It's just amazing.
