My best friend's son died six months ago from an overdose. She went to check on him because he wasn't responding to calls. Her most precious gift in this life had passed away with the needle still in his arm. She called me before the ambulance and I was a six hour drive away. The hardest part was hearing her voice and having to wait seven hours before I could comfort her in my arms. After I arrived, I sat next to her, their daughter, and husband in the home where he died. I begged God to distribute their pain on me to help shoulder their agony. It's unbearable to watch someone you love so much, who hurts so badly and not be able to help them. I hope if someone is struggling and reads this, my experience will help you to hold on for another day. I don't know you but I can assure you that someone loves you very much and they would be destroyed if you left them.

As I mentioned about my first girlfriends Loggins and Messina album in the other comments,this was a little more my style back then. For those who remember the bands airplane crash, it was devastating to loose some of these guys when your 16 and hearing this “Simple Mans” sounding rock while its still new and edgy.

“That Smell” is another anti drug song they recorded. I don’t know if you’ve reacted to it already. If not, it’s worth checking out.
@rjs20052 жыл бұрын
That Smell was a direct shot from Ronnie Van Zandt and Allen Collins to Gary Rossington- he admitted he was "Prince Charming" alluded to in the song. Tragically it was Collins who paid the price for substance abuse when he crashed his car in '86, killing his girlfriend and paralyzing himself. He was wheeled out at Skynyrd concerts to warn fans of the dangers of impaired driving until he died in '90.

I don’t believe you’ve done T for Texas yet good sir. Live from Knebworth is awesome. It’s an old 1920’s yodelling song turned into a smouldering slow burn of a jam. The crowd starts off somewhat quiet and then you see the crowd just being building into a slow boil and digging every second of it.

Man you should check out their live album they made in the Fox Theater in Atlanta Georgia It’s called One More for the Road and it’s by far their best live performance This is the best rock band to ever do it If RVZ had not died in the plane crash there’s no telling what would have happened How many rock bands do you know that every song they ever made was a great song I don’t know of but one and Skynyrd is this band You can make a list of songs from this band from any album and put your finger on one and you will either like it or be able to relate to it in some way Merle Haggard wrote a song called I’m a Honky Tonk Night Time Man and gave it to Skynyrd to record and they killed it Man this band is the all time greatest band in history in my book The amount of songs in such a short period of time is almost unbelievable how good they really were RIP TO A LEGENDARY BAND
@joymarkdelatore2512 жыл бұрын
Absolutely my man!! This band was just figuring it out. Gene Odom was helping them get cleaner and stopping the hanger-ons from stealing and soon they would get rid of that damn plane. I feel this band was on the verge of going from great band to epic legendary status. So much more music could have been made and Southern Rock door opens even farther. But with the changing of music in the 80’s who knows. Ronny was the ram-rod of that outfit in my opinion. His persona oozed from every songs lyrics. What could have been. If the drugs where gone earlier maybe they don’t keep that damn plane, then again. Maybe not.🤷♂️
