Teen Taal is a popular rhythm pattern of the Hindustani Classical Music. It consists of 16 matras. It is symmetrical and presents a very simple rhythmic structure against which a performance can be laid. It is played on the Tabla as well as on other percussion instruments. And the Tabla virtuoso, composer, percussionist, music producer Ustad Zakir Hussain is a multi-faceted artiste. He has been responsible for creation of brilliant works of fusion, which was new to both Indian and overseas audience. Overall, his contribution towards popularizing the Indian percussion is immense. He plays the popular tala with all the nuances.
