The answer to your question is that no Allah does not want the beautiful relationship to be terminated in 3 seconds, but Allah also does not want innocent people to get killed either, but it happens. WE cannot say that murder does not happen, rather there is a punishment for it. Allah does not like divorce among the permitted actions, but still Allah has allowed it. If it comes to Allah, ALlah must have prohibited it out-rightly, but sometimes woman finds deliverance in divorce. During the times of Jaliyah or before Allah revealed the instructions of Talaq in Quran, people used to divorce their wives thousand times in one sitting, at the end of the waiting period, their husbands used to reconcile and against divorcing them. It was a practice that was followed. I have a hadith that I would share at the end In Sha ALlah, when the commands for divorce were revealed, Allah first commanded that divorces are only three, the first two are revocable while the third one is revocable. Then Allah advises muslims to divide these divorces in pure periods, Allah does not say in Quran that divorces has been divided into three pure periods, rather Allah advises muslims to do so. It is the reason that at the end of first ayat of Surah At-Talaq, Allah says that such limits, those who violate such limits are zalim upon themselves, they do not know that Allah may bring a new matter among them. It implies that people who do not consider the limits of Allah mentioned in the first part of that ayat are zalim upon themselves and waive the right that Allah will bring new matter among them. Al-Baqarah-Ayat No.229, divorce is twice or two times, Allah does not say that permissible divorce is in two sittings. It means that divorce here is related to the word or times divorce is uttered, it does not matter if it is uttered in one sitting or two sittings. In the same ayat Allah again says that those two transgress such limits are zalim. In the second ayat Allah says in the end that those who fear Allah, Allah keeps a way for them. It means that those two divide divorces in three sittings and do not utter them in one, the same translation and interpretation had been made by Abdullah Ibne Abbas in hadith Sunan Abi Dawud, Chapter 13, Hadith No. 2197 I searched for the hadith that I read about divorces before the revelation, but could not find it, but I swear in the name of Allah that I have read it and it is from mother Hazrat Ayesha (R.A). I hope that it answers your question, there are numerous ahadiths that vindicates the fact that Muhammad S.A.W did count three divorces as three, but showed anger and dislike for it. Like the hadith Sunan Nisai, Chapter 32, Hadith No. 3430 If it was counted as one then there was no reason that Muhammad S.A.W should have been enraged, He (S.A.W) should have said that it is counted as one. The hadith proves the opposite that three were counted, that is why Muhammad S.A.W got enraged. Sunan Abi Shaibah, Vol-5, Hadith No. 14094, the same conclusion. As for the hadith of Hazrat Abni Abbas, there is no indication that was it permitted or allowed by Muhammad S.A.W or counted three divorces as one. It just say that during the time of Muhammad S.A.W, Hazrat Abu Baker (R.A) and first two or three years of rule of Hazrat Umar, three divorces were counted as one. As muta was prohibited by Muhammad S.A.W on the occassion of Khyber and Hijat-tul-widah, still sahaba used to perform muta until Hazrat Umar (R.A) prohibited it. Sahih Bukhari, Chapter 67, Hadith No.5115 Sunan Abi Dawud, Chapter 12, Hadith No. 2072 It means that despite the prohibition of Muhammad S.A.W, sahaba used to perform muta until Hazrat Umar prohibited it. The third hadith does not cancel the first two hadiths and vindicates the point that Abdullah Ibni Abbas did not meant in his hadith that Muhammad S.A.W permitted or allowed or counted three divorces as one. It is the fact that Hazrat Ibne Abbas along with all sahabas counted three divorces in one sitting as three. Sunan Al Kubra, Volume 09, hadith No. 14971, Hazrat Hassan bin Ali Murtaza (R.A) divorced his wive thrice, he said that he had heard from his Grandfather(S.A.W) or his father (R.A) heard from his Grandfather (S.A.W) and he (R.A) heard from his father (R.A) that those who divorce their wives three times in three sittings or one sitting, such wives are not permitted until they marry other males and they divorce them with free will, I would have taken my wife back. Not I a single hadith it had been proved that Muhammad S.A.W counted three divorces as one except for Rukanah, in which he sworn to have meant one divorce and that was divorce battah. On the opposite, one almost all the occassions Muhammad S.A.W counted three divorces as three. Sunnah is anything advised by Muhammad S.A.W, kept silence while others did, anything done during the time of Muhammad S.A.W and other people mention it in their hadiths do not qualify as sunnah nor hadith, as it cannot be associated with Muhammad S.A.W Sunan At Tirmidhi, Chapter 14, Hadith No. 1177 Sunan Abi Dawud, Chapter 13, Hadith No. 2208 Second, it only applies to the ladies who have been engaged, but not left for their husband's house. Sunan Abi Dawud, Chapter 13, Hadith No. 2199 This is my humble request to all muslims please read Quran yourself and hadiths, I am not a hanafi, but I am ahle-Quran, ahle-hadith and ahle-sunnah. Those who contradict my claim that three divorces are one, they are most welcome to provide their arguements along with references. We are here to learn about Islam and not to divide our muslim ummah. It is our responsibility to learn about Quran...
