Glad to see 80's kids here. Felt old when they said they were 2 and 4 when the first movie came out. Was too young to collect the original comics at the time, but did collect the Archies ones that started based on the cartoon and then spun off onto their own. Memories of this game was attending a convention that had an arcaded with it. I was playing with three other adults (I was the only kid playing) when I ran out of quarters and this guys was like, "I got ya" and just start pumping quarters in for all the players cause we he was so invested in the game and was enjoying everyone playing. When he as ran out of money, we had built up quite a crowd of people watching and cheering as we neared the end that they were running for the change machine trying to get quarters. I think a least a $50 in quarters were pumped into that machine, but there was great cheering and high fives when we finally won.

I didn't watch the generation that this game belongs to, but I can name the turtles, splinter, April, and Casey. The turtles show gets remade so often that I feel like anyone should know their names. I was born in 1997 but I still grew up watching a version of the turtles on TV and knew all their names from a young age. My little brother who’s only 7 also knows the turtles and loves them, cause again he just watched a more modern version that’s also different from the one I saw. So I don’t even think it’s an age thing, the turtles even now are known by kids, just depends if you saw your generations version or not. It’s only when you go far back enough that they weren’t around that it’s about age.

Born in 1984, and TMNT was huge up until Power Rangers and Batman dropped in 1992. Even then, Turtle-mania didn't completely collapse, as the toys and video games still sold like hotcakes until the mid-90's. Then it got big again with the 4Kids cartoon in 2003 (the best of the cartoon series), waned a bit in 2010, got big yet again in 2012 with the first Nick series, then dipped again when Rise premiered. Batman vs. the TMNT movie is legit an awesome movie. It's also surprisingly mature, since there's a LOT of blood and gore, and both Shredder and the TMNT kill a bunch of Foot Soldiers.

TMNT was owned by Mirage Studios. The 80's series was originally owned by Fred-Wolf Films, and now owned by Lionsgate. Mirage then eventually sold the franchise to Viacom, who own everything related to the franchise except the original cartoon (still owned by Lionsgate) and Next Mutation (owned by Saban). EDIT: Dunno if the 3rd movie was based on the game, but time travel was already a thing in the TMNT comics. The scepter used by the Turtles in the movie is based on the Time Scepter used by Renet in the comics. EDIT x2: One of the games based on the 2003 series had this as an unlockable, though with different music. I wanna say it was TMNT2: Battle Nexus, but it might have been Mutant Nightmare instead.
