Until Mutant Mayhem, the 2007 movie was the only TMNT thing I'd actually seen after the original live action movies and cartoon. From what I recall, it was quite good. Never really bothered checking out the other animated series or that Michael Bay slop.

It was a decent movie but the vortex villains storyline was so uninteresting. I appreciate wanting them to do something different rather than Shredder but they have other villains like Stockmann, Rat King, even Karai wouldve been better

Gonna be honest, if you're kids would be up to it, you should definitely check out the 2012 rendition of the turtles. Not only is it a great adaptation of the turtles but it is also not afraid to get a little heavy and dark especially for a Nickelodeon show. Also a lot of the creators on that are horror fans and some episodes are straight up the turtles in various horror films like F13, Alien, Saw, etc

I had a dream a while ago, that it was announced CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’s next movie would be an epic LIVE-action TMNT movie! And when asked about it, all he would say is; “I’ve been thinking about bringing turtles to the big screen for quite a while now. The material deserves an ambitious treatment. Think Batman Begins, only with the turtles instead.. It’s gonna look epic in IMAX”.. Never gonna happen, but damn, I really wish for Nolan to get back to some more fantastical movies again :-) Thanks for your review, Cody! I’ll be tjecking this out soon enough :-)

I grew up with the Nickelodeon Ninja Turtles and that’s pretty much the only TMNT related thing I’ve watch. So I’d call myself an average fan. But I’m really excited for this one.

If you haven't seen the TMNT movie from 2007 i'd recommend it, it is animated but in terms of action and character dynamics i think it's a winner, and it wasn't afraid to get mature in some places either (not too mature though, it's rated PG but it leans more towards being PG-13)I prefer it over this one which i also like. If your kids are interested in checking it out it might be worth jumping into.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem & Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One have almost the same exact same number of characters in the title, depending on if you put a " - " between Impossible & Dead (as it's sometimes written) in which case MI would win by 1.

Thought it was entertaining but had too many mistakes which made me question why they would decide to do that especially the relationships with characters and the origins but still a 6/10, still prefer 2007 or the 90s one but looking forward to what they do next

I 100% agree. As a lifelong Turtles fan, this is definitely a 6 range film IMO. That doesn't mean it's bad (it's fairly entertaining), but I don't get where all the rave reviews are coming from. Cody gave a balanced approach and I think his mixed and negative segments were accurate. I think the sequel has potential, and I hope Paramount sticks to their plans for doing another live action, but this one was was average to me.

Terrible turtles costumes. A cheap looking splinter. Generic villains. Less action. They brought back Casey Jones and didn't do anything with him. Increased the cringey humor. And to top it all off despite having a bigger budget than the original film and one almost as big as the second, it's still managed to look really cheap especially compared to the other 2 which looked really good.

I've seen those movies you spoke of, even the third movie when they went back in time to Japan, and I've seen the Michael Bay movies, also, played the video games on MAME, but that's about my knowledge of this franchise. Well Cody I do not know if will be able to keep posting reviews but as said opinions are like as@###^^^^## that does not mean you have to be one. I cannot just let the efforts of so many people go waste. So I add my 2 cents. My rating is 7/10. This is indeed a very fun and thoughtful version of TMNT. I definitely liked the plot and very importantly the approach to the whole concept. It begins at the origins and it takes the story forward in an interesting manner. Now the best thing is that like a true comic movie it does find humor in the tragic circumstances. But over all the plot is well done. The movie does not stall at anytime and while the climax does feel a bit overboard it still ties very well in the overall plot. Now this movie could not have done without its voice cast. The four turtle voiced by four teenagers absolutely hit it our of the park with their voice acting. They bring that sweetness and yet the conviction to their characters and it was pure masterstroke to give absolute new comers that role. They are just perfecto. But they are really well supported by everybody else. In particular Ice Cube as Superfly and Jackie Chan as Splinter just bring that depth to their characters which is very good. Now the animation style is good but probably I would preferred a little more live action feel as you said. But all in all this is a great family movie that deserves to be seen. I would be given it an 8 but I am on 2 minds of the animation. But the funny and thoughtful story and really great effort from its voice cast still make it highly watchable.

I think it looks awful. I don't like the animation style, the dialogue in the trailer comes off as geeky in cringeworthy way. The idea that they learned how to fight from watching movies seems like bad writing to me. Not excited.

Absolutely loved it. Story & dilemma’s were compelling along with a lot of grin inducing turtles moments & good emotion. The animation was like a higher budget version of some stuff you would see on Cartoon Network or ‘90s-early ‘00s Nickelodeon

I saw it today. I didn't grow up with the original franchise because I'm a 00s kid. I grew up watching a few of the 2012 ones on nicktoons and I watched the ones with Megan Fox. But I loved it. The comedy is legit on brand to the kids of today. The villains were scene stealers. I loved that the turtles were voiced by actual teens. Animation.... I mean c'mon do I even need to say anything else? It was all perfect. They tried throwing in a half-baked plot about revenge that I think was an allegory to bigotry. I feel like that psycho fly is what white people think black people want and to see them ham it up to a 10,000 was kinda hilarious and a bit melodramatic of him tryna mutate all the animals so they could exploit humans lol.

Not to say your opinion is wrong on their age not matching the personalities but I believe that's exactly what the film is trying to convey. SPOILERS(I saw the film this past weekend) They are disconnected from the real world(to a degree since they do sneak out for real world activities without splinter knowing) so their personalities won't match a traditional human 15 year old. Remember they haven't even been in school and were dying to know what high school was like lol

I would love to see these turtles (and at least something close to this animation style) brought to the small screen as maybe something like a tight 10-12 ep run show like rogans other shows like The Boys and Preacher . I think Paramount could bring it as a prestige television for a family audience. SO many prestige shows are , well, not exactly kid friendly. I think Paramount could add on w their Star Trek shows (too many imo but I'm not a trekkie) w a New WELL DONE tmnt show. I Didn't see Rise of the TMNT show but I did see the RotTMNT movie that it had thinking "Hey it's the turtels how hard can it be to jump in .. and wow. TMNT changed a lot while I wasn't watching lol. For the record I love the 2007 movie and I ... tolerate (at least the second of ) the bay films. I watched the first 2 iterations of the tv cartoons. then dropped off altho I did read a fair bit of the original run of comics as an adult. I see a lot of people being mad that changes were made to the turtles but I REALLY don't think those people have kept up w what the kids are watching now and what they think of when they see TMNT. I mean RotTMNT has them w Super Powers n shit. It felt almost unrecognizable to me and my friends that I watched that w hated it. We on the other hand really like this new movie. What I'm saying is this may appeal to parents w kids who watch turtles because this appeals to that gen while not being so out of touch w the original. Also the origin of the characters is different in every iteration. The shows from the movie from the comics and so on. it's not that big a deal. The point is the characters are all intact and respected. They don't have super powers anymore (thank god) cuz ya we could have had that.

I liked Out of the Shadows captured the OG cartoon really well the first Michael Bay reboot sucked. As for the 90s movies the only good one was the first Secret of the Ooze was decent for what it was a more kid oriented film and 3 was pretty weak. The first animated theatrical TMNT film wasn't that bad either not amazing but not terrible either.

That’s possible for any movie. Also I challenge you to go watch the 80s cartoon and tell me that dialogue aged well. It hasn’t. Especially how it talks about April and how most characters talk to her. This is what happens as time goes on. No matter what it will be a great look back on the time like all of the other versions have been
