My epic rant and breakdown on the cinematic sewer that is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem which is to me personally the worst TMNT film to date and one of the worst films of the year.

I enjoyed this film a lot and I love it. The worst TMNT films were the direct-to-video specials including “Turtle Tunes” and “We Wish You a Turtles Christmas”, the lamest holiday special ever. The others were “Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour” where the TMNT are the band was bad since it was a variety TV special from the 1970’s and “Gettin’ Down In Your Town” was also a concert from Six Flags. Both of these were okay.

I am glad you enjoyed this. I definitely didn't though other than maybe two scenes. And yes those specials are worse than this but I don't count those as TMNT films. Those are direct to video shorts. If those are films than the TMNT Blue Line short for the metro rail is also a TMNT film and that's worse than those and Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour.

Jeffro stated in every interview he's been in that he wanted to bring a different take on to the turtles. Seth Rogen wanted to focus on the teenage aspect of the turtles Tire teenagers to basically get their views on how do they act and everybody that worked on this movie had to go buy the original created a turtle's who is actually a part of the team on this movie he's voices the character and also gives his in point on the movie They'll make fun of Splinter but they also make fun of themselves don't do it out of hatred please do because their kids and is a great Viewpoint to see how these kids have to grow up and basically combat someone that could possibly kill them. Also for these Turtles to appreciate what they have the only want to run away from Splinter or went away from what they are but they never appreciate who they are. How many times will go see the turtles do the same stories over and over again. How many movies has try to be the original movie and they have not succeeded so you need a movie to beat its own thing which this is

You can be your own film and not be so fundamentally different from the source material. That's what the 1990 film did when you think about it. And it did it remarkably well. It took elements from the 80's cartoons and the comics and other comic book films at the time and put them all together. And put their own spin on it. And added more edge. Something that has been missing in the franchise since the 2003 cartoon. Which is another example of being different, but not being so fundamentally off that it doesn't even feel like TMNT anymore. Having teens voice the turtles and have their input doesn't add anything that unique in terms of storytelling either. And neither does taking TMNT and essentially making it a typical cliched movie about teenagers wanting to find acceptance and come of age. And further more, what does them being more like annoying teens really add to the film either? Also why is there no ninja in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie? Kung Fu movie clips doesn't count. Splinter has no connection to the Foot, or anything involving the ninja. So the turtles are all the equivalent of Kick Ass in the movie kick ass. No real fighting skills or traditions learned. Just techniques they learned from watching videos on the internet. They are as much of a ninja as Afro Ninja was on KZbin back in the day. Just not having that connection to be different isn't enough of a reason for that to be the approach to me personally or the right one. It's a fundamental part of the story of the turtles and their enemy The Shredder. With the way it's set up it hurts The Shredder too because now he's just a guy that Utrom can call up to ask him to do a job for her like a generic hitman.
@shadow-gr4iw
@shadow-gr4iw Жыл бұрын
@@OcpCommunications making them "annoying teenagers" as you put it, let's do a lot to push the story because they're not listening to the people who know more than them. Imagine these teenagers going up against the 2003 Shredder they would get easily murdered by him. But them going through a life-or-death situation it matures never been because at the end of the film, they're not talking about movie references and not dancing they're not doing anything out of the ordinary that is a little bit more mature because they face death. Again if you're only looking at the 2003 show there is no difference from the show to the comic books. Same thing with the movie there are jokes and pizza diction Intuit if you take most of that stuff out it's a 101 adaptation of the comics. And fans are getting kind of bored from it heck when this movie was being made everybody thought the main villain was going to be Shredder in the Foot Clan and thought that the Shredder was going to have some elaborate plan. Even the cartoon you have seen is The Shredder and the Foot Clan, it's just the same story with the same story Beats fans are likely to get tired of. That's why you see so many turtle fans praise shows that do something different with the franchising characters, 2012, rise of the tmnt, and tmnt mm, Praise by the fanbase for doing something different with the story while also keeping it fresh any kid that hasn't grown up with a turtle can walk into a turtle property and fall in love with that in a particular version. Plus if you've been a long-time Turtle fan you have seen storylines word some of the villains from the TMNT property have teamed up with the turtles and yes including Bebop and Rocksteady there have been comic book adaptations where Bebop and Rocksteady want to be heroes, there's the 80s cartoon where Bebop and Rocksteady sometimes help the turtles in a nonobvious way, and 2012 showed their miniseries Bebop and Rocksteady turn on the shredder and krang from Invasion and save the Earth even claiming that they want to be heroes

@@OcpCommunications what I'm saying is the TMNT property has gone on for a long time bringing in a new generation of fans it has made it stable with each and all. TMNT mutant Mayhem is only another iteration that brings in another group of fans to this franchise for them to check out the source material, thing that you may not follow the source material it kind of Splinter is a rat that learned Japanese martial arts in teaching to the turtles, through this do turtles become crime-fighters, the Turtles fight a bunch of bad guys and mutants. Raphael is the angry one Leonardo the leader Michelangelo is the party dude Donatello is a brain to the group. Master Splinter is still their father/sensei Superfly's backstory is a mirror of the Turtle's Back Dory showing them what the turtles could be if they went down the path Superfly did. It's Called a sympathetic feeling Buses movie did so well at the box office is getting a two-season animated show And a sequel

In terms of soundtrack the 1990 movie had a “feel” and new songs just for the movie. This one is just some old songs that Seth Rogan must have on his iPod. There’s no unique “feel” to the soundtrack. Also the puke stuff is unfortunately the usual gross out humour from the Rogan clan.

Man I agree with you, I have NO idea why people loved this trash. It’s so disrespectful to the turtle characters and the characters of the franchise. Like the turtles don’t even sound like teenagers because with the exception of Leo, Raphael sounds like a typical goth bully in high school, Mikey sounds like he’s 40, Donnie sounds like a 5 year old baby needing his diaper changed, and Splinter looks like a hillbilly while April looks like a fat ass obnoxious hobo who vomits in front of cameras. In this movie: The turtles steal stuff, joke about Splinter’s ass smelling like Doritos, obnoxiously sing bacon egg n cheese with Mikey even twerking to it, make loads of milking jokes. And when they become heroes, they only do it for selfish narcissistic reasons and even wanna go to school of all place, and the mutants that are SUPPOSE to be villains live with them in the end, including bebop and rocksteady of all characters! Plus Splinter is in love with one of them and somehow it gets a 7.4 on IMDb and a 97% on RT. How could Jeff go from Mitchells Vs Machines to THIS trash!! In the 1990 movie: The turtles are actually heroes because they wanna keep the city safe while staying in secret, April is actually a reporter and a likeable character who deeply cares for the turtles, Raphael even has a great story arc as do the other turtles. Splinter is a good father figure and the turtles are even willing to risk their lives to save him during their duel with shredder and even is perfectly balanced for kids and adults yet it gets a 6.8 on IMDb and a 42% on RT. This world is a joke Opinions respected but this cash in attempt on Spider Verse was trash and I kid you not, NONE of the kids (which were only like 3 families in my theatre opening night and that was it) in my theatre even laughed one bit. One of the worst films of this year

I agree, it baffles me that people actually like this trash film, I watched the film, but I didn't pay money to watch it in theaters, I streamed it, as a long time fan of TMNT, I tried my absolute best to like the movie and give it a chance, but after watching it, it was a stupid movie, it is by far the worse adaptation of TMNT by far. While I was watching the movie, I realized just how absolutely stupid the story was, and the characters I grew up with are completely ruined, Splinter was a terrible dad, and a shitty character with horrendous writing, I've never witnessed such lazy writing, shitty backstory that added absolutely nothing to the movie, as far as I know, the turtles and Splinter are not real ninjas, the whole concept of them learning Martial Arts was done by watching Martial Arts movies, which is by far the dumbest idea and worse concept they could ever think of for this movie, Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki are not even mentioned at all in this movie, and they're considered the most important characters of the franchise, but we have people on social media defending this shitty as movie and claiming to be "real TMNT fans" what a joke.

It actually made over 100 million alone in US and Canada ticket sales. So it made that profit plus a chunk of overseas profit. And this even isn't considering the cash it made with merchandising and toy sales. A sequel was already confirmed. And they make sequels all the time lately if a film just makes enough of a profit to do another one. Especially in an already pre-established franchise. It doesn't have to be a mega hit to warrant another entry. Plus these animated films are cheaper to make than live action and quicker. So it makes it even more likely so it can fill a slot on a studio's release schedule.

I could care less what the rotten tomatoes scores are. They gave the 1990 film a 42 percent. They also gave Ghostbusters(2016) a positive rating as well and one higher than Ghostbusters II. RT critics also gave the 2014 RoboCop remake a higher rating than RoboCop 2. All three Creed films also have higher ratings than Rocky IV. Cobra also has an 18 percent. Predator 2 has a lower rating than Predators, AVP, The Predator and Prey. I could go on and on about how unreliable these so called critic scores are in my eyes. They can disagree with me all they want to. That doesn't make my critiques any less valid. To me this is not even remotely close to a 97 percent quality film. Or even a quality film in the first place. Not with writing this bad.

I never argued my opinion is fact and metacritic has the same issues. Nearly all of the films I listed here get similar ratings. Or worse Metacritic says that Predator(1987) is worse than Predators, The Predator and Prey. The only opinion that carries any real weight to me personally is your own. That's the one that matters the most. Whether some random consensus of "critics" online disagree or they agree simply should not matter. You matter. Because otherwise people just agree or disagree with a small group of people despite there being so many more people in this world with different tastes and overall opinions of entertainment.
