What a great way to honor one's mother, and one's Maori heritage. Had tears in my eyes! What a great son, and congrats to his Mom on graduating!

@@andrearichardson6426 A Haka is a traditional Maori dance. Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. Hence, New Zealander, from New Zealand, like an American is from America. The Haka is used for a greeting, a challenge, or a sign of deep respect as the son was conveying to his mother. That's what made it so poignant.

I'm a white American but I love things like language and culture.. I'm multilingual all that good stuff.. but Haka has always stopped me dead in my tracks. I've watched this video probably 30 times now because I've read about how important this performance is. That last "HEI".. that's no teenage boy. That's a MAN. A man that loves his mom more that we could ever understand

The avocado (Persea americana) is a medium-sized, evergreen tree in the laurel family (Lauraceae). It is native to the Americas and was first domesticated in Mesoamerica more than 5,000 years ago. Then as now it was prized for its large and unusually oily fruit.[3] The tree likely originated in the highlands bridging south-central Mexico and Guatemala.[4][5][6] Its fruit, sometimes also referred to as an alligator pear or avocado pear, is botanically a large berry containing a single large seed.
