Ringo had the most successful acting career of the Beatles. He was also the glue of the group with his perfect beat.

This is considered the start of modern music videos. The whole production was put together (music, script, filming, etc.) in a small window of time, a few months, while still touring. Simply amazing.

Finally a kid who has some guts to watch a Hard Days Night and learn about the Beatles in their element in this iconic film that set the bar higher for music groups. The beginning of music videos which didn't really happen until MTV in 1982. Other British Groups couldn't match this film, but tried. If you watch a couple more times you'll catch more jokes and start understanding the "lingo" or Linguistics and British humor...the actor who played the grandfather. Wilfred Bramble, was hysterical, and was a popular star on the British show Steptoe and Son." On the show his "son" would constantly call him a "Dirty Old Man." So in this film the joke was everybody was calling him a "Clean Old Man." IMO the Beatles help rescued Rock and Roll, as it was dying on the vine with crooners controlled by adults. The Beatles crushed the competition right out of the gate with the top 5 spots on Billboard's Hot 100 in spring of 1964. No one had ever done that since.

Don’t underestimate Ringo’s talent. He was 25% of the Beatles’ sound, and his drumming was unlike any others. His fills are unmatched, and his meter was spot on.

You got the plot correct. It's just following the Beatles on tour and watching their shenanigans. Help! and Yellow Submarine are the movies with actual plots. Magical Mystery Tour is more like this movie. No real plot, just shenanigans. The awesome thing about the movies is you get to see how cool the guys are. It wasn't just their music that made them so great. They were fun, likeable guys too.

No that’s not actually Paul’s granddad. That’s an Irish actor called Wilfrid Brambell. And yes that blonde woman in the train at the start was Pattie Boyd. It was filming that scene where she and George met. George actually asked her out on that first day.

The sitcom Steptoe And Son was remade in the US as Sanford And Son. Wilfred Brambell played the father in the original and was frequently called a "dirty old man" by his son - hence the running joke here about him being very clean. I swear they add new jokes to the film every time I watch it. I'd never noticed George saying "Keep Britain tiny" as he walks past John lying in the bath (Keep Britain Tidy was a campaign to try to stop people dropping litter). Watching the Get Back documentary will explain the Let It Be album, but it would be a hell of an undertaking to do a reaction video to it.

Yes, George's accent seems to be the thickest. "Help" does have a "plot" but it's super corny.....again, the main enjoyment is in seeing the boys singing and goof around.
@thomastimlin1724 Жыл бұрын
Help was still funny, a spy spoof really, James Bond being popular at he time. Beatles films were never meant to eb anything but entertainment, and sometimes corny can by funny. And let's face it...Beatles movies were made for kids, that was their market, not for adults or getting an Academy Award. Kids who watched "corny" Saturday morning cartoons. The producers they knew exactly what they were doing and why when they made these films. And the cash register rang loudly.
@patticrichton1135 Жыл бұрын
@@thomastimlin1724 It wasn't just for kids who watched "corny" Saturday morning cartoons" it was MAINLY directed to TEENAGERS, like I was (17 at the time) and we went to the theater over and over again, some days sitting through a whole day and evening of "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" and "HELP!" showings (you could do that back then, you were never kicked out once you were in the theater) I never saw a lot of children (preteen) kids in the theater during the run of "A Hard Day's Night" it was mostly 12 through 20 years old! We didn't care if there was a plot, we just wanted to SEE them on the big screen, and just have fun. We didn't see them often on TV here in the States other than the ED SuLLIVAN Show, once on "SHINDIG" and a program special in April of 1964 called "AROUND THE BEATLES" Their two movies provided a great opportunity to see them very up close and often. This movie is NOW considered a CLASSIC and one of the first films to feature a hand held camera. It is shown frequently on TV now and even on TCM (Turner Classic Movies)

Back in the day, the movie was so popular that there was a line up outside the theatre that went all the way around a city block, and we had to wait outside through one whole screening before we could get in .. so we stood in line for 2 hours... and once we were in, the girls screamed through the whole thing... it was glorious fun!!! The highlight for me is George in the TV guy's office. Help is also a great movie
@patticrichton1135 Жыл бұрын
Yes, and I was one of those girls, we had special premier tickets we could keep for the first showing when it was released in the US, after that my friends and I would go for the first showing of the day and sit there all day watching it over and over again, through the last showing of the night. We did that quite often through the weeks it ran in the theaters. It was SO much fun. I was 17 then. PERFECT age for a Beatles' fan. I CAN'T BELIEVE he DIDN'T show a SINGLE thing of what George said in the TV guy's office! He skipped some of the BEST scenes in the movie! He could have done more than 20 minutes

The irritable man on the train is the same actor who played Sir Edward in The Intelligence Men (Richard Vernon). Note the parody of a Heinz advert in the cafe scene. The young Phil Collins was an extra on the film - he narrowly failed to be cast as one of the boys sneaking Grandad back into the theatre. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that on the strength of this film Wilfred Bramball was nearly cast in 200 Motels (occupying the Jeff Simmons role, which would have taken on a new intensity with an older man) but after two days of difficult rehearsals he stormed out, and the rest is history.

YES, watch the movies! "LET IT BE" is the orginial movie now replaced with the new 8 hour "GET BACK". I like Magical mystery Tour (not the story), its like the 1st MTV type weird music videos. Others to watch include Ron Howards "Eight Days a Week", where you will see how they where on stage and why they stoped touring! There are three movies I like that uses their songs - "ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" and "I AM SAM" and of couse the new one, "YESTERDAY". One more - James Corden "Paul McCartney Carpool Karaoke".

The movie was an attempt to catch what a was a day in the Life of a Beatle. In the theatre, it was mandatory for the girls to scream during those close-up shots. I, as a 12 year old, because of the heavy accents, and all the background noise, and the absence of plot, could barely make heads or tails of the thing. I still loved the Beatles, though, and that has not changed.
