Oh hell yeah watch the movie. Also I think other people have said this but you really should check out the singles that came out at same time afterward, if not in parallel. They tended not to include their biggest singles on the albums for some reason, but yeah the compilation album Past Masters has all of the non-album singles on it.

@@Stereoheadx Actually about 95 percent of the time the lead singer is the lead writer of the song. If John is singing, it's a song he wrote. The same is true with Paul. George does sing a couple John songs early in their career, but from then on sings only his own.

if i fell has to be one of the most underrated tracks in the beatles' entire catalog. it captures the insecurity of putting yourself out there and letting someone new into your life so delicately and so perfectly. big contrast from their other early love songs which are so self-assured and unambiguous. i think it would be so cool if you reacted to footage of one of the beatles' live sets! there's a video on here of their show in washington dc from their '64 us tour. it's an incredible historical document and just an insanely fun watch. keep up the great work!

‘Things We Said Today’ is in my top 10 favorite Beatles’ songs. Some of Paul’s lesser known songs are the gems for me, and they sneakily get darker as the relationship with his girlfriend at the time changed (more to come.) Also, Paul and John may have lead certain songs but they wrote most songs together and sang a lot of them together. For instance, on the title song, that’s Paul and John singing together. And honestly, all 3 harmonize in most songs. However, Paul was the driving force, the arranger, and the work horse of the group. He’s a genius. And he has one of the best male voices ever - with a 5 octave range. You should really watch the movie, ‘A Hard Day’s Night!’ So good!

Really good insight for someone in this day hearing Beatles 1st time! So many sounds today are high energy, people miss how intense that opening chord and verse were on the title track when it came on the radio. It was game changing, opening doors for other ‘60s bands to not hold back. I was 6 when they hit the US and they brought me joy and excitement missing in my life, and are why I became a musician and guitar teacher for my living. By the way, if you knew how lame most top 40 was before they hit…’nuff said.

Really this is John's first solo album, writing 10 of the 13 tracks (He gave 'Happy Just To Dance' to George to sing). When you listen to Beatles albums be aware that they rarely included any of their singles on them. So 'With The Beatles' could have quite easily included 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', 'This Boy', 'She Loves You', 'I'll Get You' and feasibly even 'From Me To You', which would have made it a powerhouse of an album. Those fairly new to The Beatles need to include 'Past Masters Vols 1 & 2' in their listening experience to pick up all the non-album singles they released over their recording career. Great reaction, dude.

It's a blast following you on your journey, seeing your enthusiasm and insights plus how you resonate with these songs makes me feel like i'm discovering these albums for the first time again with a different set of ears. Low key look forward to each video drop!

I loved your take on "I'll Cry Instead." I also like the word "Ringolessness."

I know, right? No one ever connects with I'll Cry Instead like Darius did. He's collecting all the forgotten step-children (like There's a Place and I'll Cry Instead) and giving them some fresh attention.

A Hard Day's Night is almost John Lennon's first solo album! It's magnificent. The only regret for me is that the LP should also have included I Call Your Name.

This is the Beatles album that first got me into The Beatles. It was my dads and growing up as a kid I heard it all the time. I sort of "borrowed" it and when I was about 9 or 10 I just had to find out more about this amazing sounding band and started buying all their other albums.

When I first heard these songs I was, well, born late in '59 so. Ofc there was no YT, and I wasn't being tasked with a reaction. But I have to say I'm impressed with not only your insights, but how fast you've become a legit Beatles fan. Some of these songs, I can see you out there fielding them, but you always catch the ball.

I saw Paul McCartney in concert in 2019, and he opened with A Hard Day’s Night. It was awesome.
