Love watching the kids working hard. My dad use to say “hard work builds character”. The oil venting on the underside of your truck is better known as a self lubricating chassis system. Glad to see you are getting nice melons with no blow outs or bird damage. I’ve always avoided walking on the melon vines when harvesting for fear it would kill them but apparently it does not. How long does your harvested corn keep in your refrigerated store room? Thanks again for your very informative videos.
@wishwellfarms5 ай бұрын
Thanks Bob! Yeah, I think every kid should experience working on a farm for at least one summer of their life. The melons have been yielding really nicely about 500 every other day from this little half acre patch but it’s gonna start winding down now as we await patch number two. we pick corn every other day, sometimes every day. Even though it taste fresh and looks fresh after three or five days, we would just prefer to have fresh corn, rather than try to hang onto it, too risky.

I would strongly suggest keeping the extra box truck. Don't let it sit all of the time, keep it rotated into service on a regular basis. I would be willing to bet you $100 that 3 years from now you will really be happy that you kept it. As a farmer, I'm sure that you know that you have to make hay when the Sun shines and you really need to make sure that you don't miss a market because of a broken truck. And I can almost guarantee that as soon as you sell it that your other trucks will start needing major repairs all the time. And if you keep it as a spare, your other trucks probably won't ever break down. My back and legs hurt just from watching this video. Stay safe out there and keep the videos coming!
@wishwellfarms5 ай бұрын
Yes, I know you’re right about everything you just said and I agree. I just hate seeing an asset sit there and not be used kind of like my RV which only gets used about four weeks a year but it’s a luxury that I’m not willing to part with yet ha ha. I’ll probably hang onto that truck. My dad‘s been trying to talk me into upgrading my trucks for like the last five years but these darn turbo diesels just keep going and going like the energizer bunny and I know all the little problems that they all have and how to deal with them, if I go out and buy upgraded trucks, which would not be new, I feel like I’m gonna end up inheriting someone else’s problems and that scares me.

Morning glories are the most beautiful flower I love to grow and pamper with watering, fertilizing, weeding and pruning! However, they will get invasive like kudzu vines if the gardener does not maintain them. Your moring glories are a monumental pain in the ass because they choke out your other crops. If my crop of morning glories were being strangled becauuse of invasive tomato vines, I would try my hardest to eradicate the tomato vines!

No heirlooms, those are very difficult and finicky to raise on a a large scale, great for small home gardeners, but too risky for me. May be the brake line has broken down inside of it and needs replaced
Front Right Brake on truck; check your short rubber brake lines next to the caliper. Old hoses collapse the cause brake to stick ON, then the brake will overheat. Old brake lines cause excessively wear the brakes. The replace the old brake lines and the problem will go away!

Now I’m lucky to get to get 10 applications a year, and the kids that are able to work usually have to leave in early August for sports and all through July They have family vacations, camps and county fairs. I’m about fed up and this is part of the reason I’m scaling back almost 50% next year because I am not gonna hire migrant labor for my small farm. At age 50, I have no need to expand my operation. We’ve been slowly scaling back for the last five years to enjoy life more and looking ahead to partial retirement and someone to succeed me since my three kids don’t want to.
